As a result of the "2025 Smart City Development Project" public offering, Jeonju-si, Jeollabuk-do was selected for the base type, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do for the stronghold type, Gimcheon-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, and Daegu Metropolitan City for the specialized complex type.

The smart city creation project is a project in which local governments and private companies work together to find and create groundbreaking services tailored to local characteristics to solve various problems in existing cities.
As a result of the “2024 Smart City Creation Project” contest, one location was selected in Cheonan-si, South Chungcheong Province as a base type, and three locations including Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, Taebaek-si, Gangwon-do, and Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk were selected as strong-type locations.
