[Development of digital innovation technology for non-face-to-face business] e-commerce real space transformation synthesis technology

Preview large home appliances and furniture as if they were actually brought into the house
2020.11.24. / Policy Briefing Choi Sun-Young

In the Corona Era, a shopping service that avoids crowded shopping malls, prefers online shopping, and virtually experiences without wearing them, is drawing attention. With the continuing social distancing due to the prolonged corona 19, the offline-oriented furniture, distribution, and travel industries are looking forward to the digital market using augmented (AR) and virtual (VR) reality technologies. Therefore, if you can check and buy bulky furniture or home appliances before buying them to see if they match the atmosphere of your home and whether the specifications are appropriate, it will be one stone two trillion for consumers.

'Real space transformation synthesis technology' for non-face-to-face commerce
Existing augmented reality technology provides a simple overlay function that arranges and synthesizes virtual objects in an empty space, so objects placed in the existing user's living environment, especially heavy objects such as beds and furniture, have a limitation in the augmented reality experience. Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) is a real object in the MR (mixed reality) environment of the user's smartphone by simply placing the existing technology in an empty space or overcoming the limitation of 3D spatial recognition, which is covered by real objects, regardless of the placement of real objects. We are promoting the development of real (world) spatial transformation synthesis technology that removes, moves, and rearranges. 'Real space transformation synthesis technology' is a new paradigm shifting technology that breaks down virtual and borders, providing new experiences and services for non-face-to-face commerce in MR environments.
