1. Business targeted for support
ㅇ Name of business: 2021 Smart City Challenge Project
ㅇProject purpose: Solve urban problems by using private creative ideas (solutions) such as companies and universities, and spread excellent solutions to other local governments and overseas.
2. Qualifications for application and scale of application
ㅇLocal governments (special metropolitan cities, special autonomous cities/provinces, cities/guns) and private companies apply jointly
ㅇLocal governments can only apply for one project per region targeting the city/gun area
ㅇCompanies can participate in two or more projects, and large corporations cannot participate alone, and participation as a small, small and medium-sized business, and start-up partners is necessary.
ㅇ Scale of support: 4 preliminary projects (local government + company, etc.) are selected, and 15 billion won each is invested to support the demonstration of representative solutions and establishment of main business plans.

2. Town Challenge – Discovering specialized services for small and medium-sized local governments
Announcement of 「2021 Smart Town Challenge Project」
1. Business targeted for support
ㅇ Name of business: 2021 Smart Town Challenge Project
ㅇProject purpose: To establish a regional-specific smart town in specific areas within small and medium-sized cities in consideration of local demand and conditions, and to establish a foundation for spreading other local governments by demonstrating smart solutions.
2. Eligibility
ㅇApply for the head of a local government with a population size of 50 or less
– However, special or metropolitan district units can be applied regardless of the size of the population.
ㅇOnly one project per local government is allowed to apply
ㅇ Business type: For smart town type (theme), select one of ① transportation, ② environment, and ③ crime prevention, and establish and apply a business plan by consisting of 1 to 3 smart solutions related to the relevant field
– However, Establish a business plan except for the dissemination solutions suggested in the “2021 Smart City Solution Expansion Project” competition guidelines.
ㅇ Scale of support: 4 places are selected to support government expenses of 15 billion won/site for smart town development (local cost 1:1 matching)

3. Campus Challenge – Discovering services using university ideas
Announcement of 「2021 Smart Campus Challenge Project」
1. Business targeted for support
ㅇName of business: 2021 Smart Campus Challenge Project
ㅇProject content: Apply, demonstrate, and commercialize university research content and young and innovative smart solutions to university campuses and regions through industry-academia cooperation.
ㅇ Scale of support: Selected 8 universities and supported by 11 billion won per government
2. Eligibility
ㅇ A consortium is formed jointly by private companies, local governments, public institutions, or local institutions that will build solutions under the supervision of universities (schools) to apply.
ㅇ The supervising university (school) can only apply for one project, and private companies can participate in duplicate

1. Business targeted for support
ㅇ Business name: Smart city solution expansion business in 2021
ㅇProject purpose: Promoting public sentiment and revitalizing related projects by spreading and distributing excellent smart city solutions with proven effectiveness throughout the country
ㅇ Scale of support: Disseminated to 22 basic local governments and differentiated project costs according to the size of the population
– (Solution complex) Population over 30: 8 locations × 40 billion won (20 billion national expenses + 20 billion local expenses)
– (Solution-intensive) Population less than 30: 14 locations × 20 billion won (government spending 10 billion + local expenses 10 billion)
2. Eligibility
ㅇThe head of the basic local government (si/gun/gu) applies, and only one representative department of each basic local government is allowed to apply.
ㅇLocal governments select and support from the list of 9 disseminated solutions when applying for a contest
ㅇ Limit the number of solutions selected by local governments according to population size
– (Solution Complex) Population over 30: Choose a solution within 3
– (Solution-intensive) Population less than 30: Choose a solution within 2
