□ The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced that it plans to finally select three “ITS Innovation Technology Competition Projects” that apply innovative technologies and solutions owned by the private sector to the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)* and apply them to actual roads as a pilot. .
* Intelligent Transport System (ITS): A transportation system that efficiently manages traffic information with advanced traffic technology and improves traffic efficiency and safety through scientific and automated operation.
ㅇ This contest is aimed at discovering innovative technologies owned by the private sector such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and big data, and ITS services that can be experienced by the public.
* Use of civilian ideas for realizing digital roads, such as the US Ministry of National Defense Grand Challenge, which triggered the development of autonomous vehicles, and the US Department of Transportation AI City Challenge to advance traffic control.
ㅇ As a result of the competition, a total of 57 proposals were received, and in the first stage evaluation, the candidate group was compressed (1 projects) focusing on the novelty, technology, and effectiveness of the project contents, and the final target project was selected with a proposal containing specific project details. Step evaluation method was applied.
□ The final evaluation committee was composed of 9 private experts in the field of ITS, and finally selected 4 projects through written and face-to-face evaluations from April 1st to April 4th.
