Busan Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Hyesuk Lim, hereinafter referred to as 'MSIT') announced that they have opened the ASEAN-Korea ICT Convergence Village, which will serve as a hub for Korea-ASEAN ICT industry cooperation and a bridgehead to advance into overseas markets in the metaverse era.

「ASEAN-Korea ICT Convergence Village」 (hereinafter referred to as “ICT Convergence Village”) is a follow-up to the ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit held in Busan to commemorate the 2019th anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN-Korea dialogue relations in 30 and to strengthen the strategic partnership between Korea and ASEAN. As one of the achievement projects, it was established to lay the foundation for mutual growth and exchange between Korea and ASEAN in the field of virtual convergence technology (hereinafter referred to as 'XR') contents and services.

For the next four years, for the purpose of promoting ASEAN-Korea XR cooperation and mutual prosperity, it will be dedicated to fostering professionals through ▲XR content production infrastructure support, ▲Korea-ASEAN joint XR project discovery and support ▲K-ASEAN XR Academy operation.

The opening ceremony was attended by a minimum number of people including MSIT Minister Lim Hye-sook, Busan Metropolitan City Mayor Park Hyung-joon, Busan City Council Chairman Shin Sang-hae, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia deputy ambassadors in Korea, Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency, and ASEAN Cultural Center in attendance. Construction progress was reported and major facilities were visited.

'K-ASEAN Studio', built with technology* independently developed by 'M&H,' a domestic start-up, can produce lively 360° stereoscopic XR contents in collaboration with domestic and foreign companies, and '5G-based' developed by 'RealMaker' A variety of location-based AR services can be developed in the 40,000 m² APEC Naru Park area 5G test space (test bed) using the 'indoor/outdoor continuous user location tracking system'.

In this year's 'ASEAN-Korea XR Joint Project', the development of a shopping mall metaverse in Bangkok and the development of XR contents in Vietnam's 'Huangseong Hue', a World Heritage Site, are promoted, and it is expected to become an excellent case of cooperation with ASEAN based on domestic XR technology. are collecting
