– 'K-TOILET! At the Suwon Convention Center under the theme of 'Designing the World'
Suwon City held the 'K-TOILET! 'K-TOILET SUWON 18 & K-WATER CYCLE 20 (2021 Suwon International Toilet & Water Cycle Expo)' will be held under the theme of 'Designing the World'.
This expo is a regional MICE event hosted by Suwon City, a 'luxury toilet city', and co-hosted by Suwon Convention Center and The Fairs, an exhibition specialized company.
It will serve as an international business platform by introducing toilet-related facilities, sanitary products, smart IoT (Internet of Things) technology, and facilities, technologies and systems related to water environment and water circulation.
'K-TOILET Agenda 21 Symposium' to present Suwon City's policy implementation plans and expert research results in the field of sewage treatment and water circulation; Additional events such as the operation of toilet culture and history themed halls will also be held. Haewoojae, a toilet culture exhibition hall, promotes Haewoojae and follows events during the fair.
Suwon City is taking the lead in improving toilet culture at home and abroad by leading the 'beautiful toilet culture movement' by declaring "I will make the city with the most beautiful public toilets in the world" after the 2002 World Cup bid was confirmed. By consistently winning the 'Beautiful Toilet Contest' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, it is consolidating its status as a 'Luxury Toilet City'.
Starting with receiving the grand prize in the first contest (1) for the 'Gwanggyo Mountain Firefly Toilet', toilets with a great view at the foot of Mt. Paldalsan, Songjuk-dong Manseok Park toilet, Gwanggyo New Town Hyeryung Park toilet, and Gwanggyo Urban Levi toilet received the honor of receiving the award.
The late Shim Jae-deok (1939~2009), the former mayor of Suwon, proposed the establishment of the World Toilet Association (WTA), a private international organization, and led the establishment of the WTA in 2007. Suwon Mayor Yeom Tae-young, who served as the 3rd and 4th WTA president, was recently elected as the 5th president at the 11th general meeting of the World Toilet Association and the 5th regular meeting of the board of directors. The term of office is 4 years.
WTA started supporting the construction of public toilets in 2008 places in nine African and Asian countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Laos, Mongolia, and Cambodia from 2009 to 9. including two under construction).
To commemorate World Toilet Day (November 19), WTA is installing a large toilet-shaped air sculpture in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Suwon Convention Center.
