Move-in to a smart village in the Busan Smart City National Pilot Smart City (Eco Delta City)

 The first step of a future smart city model in which citizens directly lead the city's services has begun with the full-fledged move-in of 'Smart Village', a futuristic residential complex where you can get a glimpse of innovative technologies to be applied to Eco Delta City, a national pilot smart city in Busan. . 

 Smart Village is a single-family housing complex (56 households) built within the Busan National Pilot Smart City, and is composed of a space where citizens can directly experience various smart services.
The residents of the smart village were selected through a public contest held last year, with 2,982 households applying and finally 54 households selected. When the occupancy is completed on January 1 next year, the residents will pay only the management fee for 15 years and participate in the living lab program to experience and improve the innovative technology applied in the complex. 
* Living Lab: A lab that conducts research in a space where citizens actually live
We plan to provide more user-friendly services based on our experience in using innovative technologies in five fields, including healthcare, robots, smart farms, water/environment, and life/safety, and opinions on improvements.

  • (smart water management)Provide a water-friendly information platform that provides water quality and air information for water-friendly activities and a real-time water care service that can measure usage by use 
  • (smart energy) Korea's first 1+++ grade and zero energy grade 1 housing complex by providing renewable energy such as solar and hydrothermal/geothermal heat 
  • (smart healthcare) Health monitoring system, health monitoring and diet management through smart band,
    AI trainer analyzes individual health information and provides customized exercise prescription 
  • (smart farm) Cultivation of crops by recycling rainwater and use of communication space for residents 
  • (smart robot) Automatic sorting of waste generated by each household, dedicated to common space management robots within the complex (cleaning robots, security robots, etc.)
 The public offering process for private sector participating companies in the public and private SPC that will create the Busan National Pilot Smart City in earnest will also be held. Companies wishing to participate in the Busan Smart City National Pilot Smart City must submit a letter of intent and business plan in accordance with the public offering procedure.

 The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has finally selected 2022 destinations* for the 'living-friendly urban regeneration smart technology support project' to be promoted in 13. 
* Gyeonggi (Ansan, Uijeongbu), Gangwon (Taebaek), Chungbuk (Jecheon (2), Cheongju), Chungnam (Gongju), Jeonbuk (Gimje, Namwon), Jeonnam (Hwasun), Gyeongbuk (Gimcheon), Gyeongnam (Gimhae), Jeju (Jeju) 
 Living-friendly urban regeneration smart technology support project is a project to solve regional problems and improve settlement conditions by establishing smart services linked to this project in projects that have been selected for the Urban Regeneration New Deal project and are already being implemented. · The evaluation committee, made up of smart city experts, evaluates 'urban regeneration project connectivity' and 'service sustainability' with a focus on the total project cost of 105.6 billion won (63.3 billion won from the government, 42.3 billion won from the local) to the final selected project site.
The main services of the target site selected for the living-friendly smart business are as follows.
① Living & Welfare: Smart Culture and Arts Performance Street (Ansan, Gyeonggi-do)

「Smart Campus Challenge University (Graduate) Student Idea Contest」 Awards Ceremony

The 「Smart Campus Challenge College (Graduate) Student Idea Contest」 was held for the first time this year to discover and demonstrate ideas for young people in the smart city field.
 In the idea contest in which 41 college (graduate) student teams participated, 9 teams that passed the written evaluation last November participated in the contest conducted as a presentation evaluation. To the teams participating in the contest, smart city SMEs and sprout companies provided consulting support to establish a feasible demonstration plan, and provided students with opportunities to grow.

 The honor of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Minister’s Award and the grand prize receiving up to 8 million won in demonstration support went to the 'Hyper-Local Map for Young One-person Families' by the 'Hanyang University Dongnaedubaru' team. The ‘Smart IoT System Using KakaoTalk’ by the Mirae University Sumakers’ team and the ‘AI-based Mobility Accident Reporting Platform’ by the ‘Sungkyunkwan University Myren’ team were awarded the prize, and the ‘Chung-Ang University SBS’ team’s ‘Smart City Customized Subway Civil Service’ ' and the 'Campus PM safety support system' of the 'Korea Transportation University FM' team won the awards.

Smart City Next innovative technology demonstration project agreement

In 「Smart City Next Innovation Technology Demonstration Business Agreement Ceremony」, agreements were signed between innovative companies and demonstration organizations (local governments, etc.) for 4 smart city technologies. Whereas the existing demonstration project merely supported the cost, from this year on, more stable and effective demonstration is expected as it will be able to receive support for technical operation and public relations activities after the demonstration.
 The four innovative technologies to be demonstrated are as follows. 
① Web-based augmented reality indoor navigation system using edge computing technology and deep learning
② Real-time AI technology-based road surface condition estimation and IoT technology-based information sharing service to reduce traffic accident rate
③ Smart city real-time heatwave monitoring system demonstration project
④ Establishment of obstacle-free movement environment based on IoT-based pedestrian alleys

MOLIT thrifty transportation card and Bucheon Smart City Pass combine to reduce public transportation costs

 Since July 7, Bucheon City has collaborated with Data Alliance Co., Ltd., a company participating in the challenge, through the Smart City Pass app, along with affordable transportation cards before and after using public transportation in the metropolitan area. When using the 'shared electric kickboard, shared electric bicycle, shared car, parking sharing' service, benefits are provided through integrated transfers to reduce public transportation costs. In order to benefit more citizens, promote the use of public transportation, and support the reduction of carbon emissions, the mileage accrual conditions are being expanded and operated as a pilot operation starting from December 30th.이다. Bucheon City is cooperating with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport so that many citizens can receive various benefits through smart city services.
Wonju City Completes Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Construction Project in 2021

 Wonju City recently announced that it would complete the 2021 Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) construction project to install state-of-the-art transportation infrastructure on major roads within the jurisdiction and begin normal operation from January of the new year.
Previously, Wonju City was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport competition project and received 40 billion won from the government and 24 million won from the provincial government to control traffic on roads with heavy traffic such as the Musil-Manjong West Ring Road and Innovation City, out of the total project cost of 1.6 billion won. 13 CCTVs, 6 video detectors, 15 smart intersections, 15 left turn sensitive signals, and 3 traffic information providing systems were installed. 
Sejong City Accelerates Smart City Innovation Collaboration with Belfast City, UK

 Sejong Special Self-Governing City and Belfast City, the capital of Northern Ireland, started full-fledged cooperation in various urban innovation fields, including smart cities and mobility. The city announced on the 7th that it had participated in the 'Korea-British Innovation Twins Project' initiating event hosted by the UK Regional Innovation Corporation to link Korea and Britain through video, and discussed cooperation projects such as mutual smart city with the city of Belfast, UK. This project is to promote economic development, trade and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), advance into third countries, research and development, and joint development of smart cities through innovative cooperation between local governments of the two countries. It is supported by the UK central government.

 Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Incheon Metropolitan City Corporation (iH), and Korea Overseas INfrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) (KIND) joined hands to support Korean companies' advancement into overseas urban development projects. The agreement was signed to establish an organic business cooperation system in relation to overseas market entry of domestic companies' overseas investment and development-type smart city and urban development projects. This agreement was promoted as a result of cooperation in laying the groundwork for Korean companies to advance into overseas urban development, such as supporting cities from countries such as the Philippines and Mongolia to apply for the K-City Network program recently implemented by KIND.
