-Establishment of 「Big Data Platform」, pilot operation of coastal accident big data prediction model –

The Korea Coast Guard announced that it would start scientific preventive activities using a 'coastal accident prediction model' in line with May, when marine leisure activities begin in earnest.

The coastal accident prediction model is a system that derives the predicted values for the period and region with high accident risk through big data analysis related to marine accidents such as tides, weather, and topography for the past 5 years.

In particular, by visualizing spatial data and marine accident data based on 3D spatial information, it is expected to be of great help in improving the work system as a preventive activity centered on coastal accident risk areas.

Korea Coast Guard plans to expand to other sea areas in the future after analyzing the operational performance of the prediction model for the west coast region that is being piloted.

A maritime police official said, "We will continue to expand big data analysis services to discover marine safety services that the public can feel."
