Korea Polytechnic University held 'The 24st Korea Polytechnic University Metaverse Seminar' on the 1th.

The event was held simultaneously both online and offline at the Polytech Daejeon Campus and at U-STORY, an online virtual space, a web-based open platform.

This seminar, which was held under the theme of 'Industry, Metaverse and Polytech', was held by Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea Polytechnic University, Software Policy Research Institute, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Unity, Dassault Systèmes, Allforland. Various government officials, universities, research institutes, and corporate officials attended the event.

At the beginning of this year, Polytech opened the Metaverse Research Center to prepare a future-oriented vocational education and training system in the digital transition period for the first time in a domestic university, and is building a digital vocational education platform based on lifelong vocational competency development.

This year, using its own metaverse platform, it will build a virtual campus and produce vocational education-specialized immersive augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR, Virtual Reality) educational contents.

Users of the Polytech Metaverse platform can experience extended learning activities by supplementing the shortcomings of technical education and training that are difficult to experience due to problems such as high cost and high risk, such as 'electric vehicle disassembly practice', and adding a sense of reality.

The university plans to activate the polytechnic metaverse platform built this year by next year, open it to the general public, elementary, middle and high school students, and private training institutions by 2024 in connection with the digital government, and create a foundation for vocational education and training for the entire life cycle.

Chairman Cho Jae-hee said, “For a society where anyone who wants to work can work, we will provide opportunities to improve technological capabilities that transcend time and space and upgrade the vocational education infrastructure.” We plan to focus all our efforts.”

Meanwhile, Polytech is operating augmented reality system department (Gwangmyeong Convergence Technology Education Center), VR Media Contents department (Daejeon Campus), etc. to nurture practical manpower in the metabus industry.
