Incheon Economic Administration, IFEZ Tech Platform Technology Seminar and Regulatory Sandbox Briefing
To create an innovative ecosystem… About 60 companies including future mobility and smart manufacturing participated

 

○ A seminar related to the latest trends in Urban Air Mobility (UAM), which is expected to grow rapidly ahead of commercialization in 2025, drew attention.

○ Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority held the first technical seminar and regulation of 'Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ), Korea Institute for Industrial Technology Advancement (KIAT), Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Center-IFEZ Tech Platform at the Aerospace Industry-University Convergence Center in Songdo International City on the 26th. A sandbox briefing session was held.

○ On this day, held as part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Free Economic Zone innovation ecosystem creation project, 40 companies in the future mobility field such as UAM, drones, and MRO, 20 companies in the smart manufacturing field such as smart manufacturing and additive manufacturing, etc. About 60 companies were in attendance.

○ In the seminar, △UAM latest commercialization and standardization trend (Dr. Kyung-Ryun Oh, Korea Aerospace Research Institute), △Operation concept from the perspective of UAM operator (Kim Jae-Woo, general manager of Korean Air), △UAM Vertiport (airport dedicated to drones and flying cars) trends and prospects (Chairman Insu Jeon of Incheon International Airport Corporation), △UAM promotion strategy and current status (Dr. Janghwan Kim, Institute of Aviation Safety Technology) gave lectures.
○ Organized a consortium with Incheon Techno Park and organized by the Aerospace Industry-Academic Convergence Institute, which was selected for the second free economic zone innovation ecosystem construction contest following last year, the event was held with the latest technologies such as UAM, MRO, drone, and smart manufacturing industry. It is evaluated that it was a meaningful place to share trends.

○ In addition, at the event, a briefing session on the regulatory sandbox was held related to the introduction of 'the latest information on the regulatory sandbox system and special regulations' by KIAT researcher Woo-Hyeong Lee, an institution in charge of the regulatory sandbox.

○ An official from Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority said, “Today’s event was a meaningful event to examine the latest trends related to UAM and to obtain the latest information on the regulatory sandbox that is important for the innovative growth of the Free Economic Zone. We will strive to play a leading role in regulatory innovation by closely cooperating with regional innovation organizations such as Convergence Center and Incheon TP and actively discovering demand for regulatory innovation.”
