The Smart City Asia Pacific Award is an international award awarded by IDC to select governments, public institutions, and private companies that have promoted the best projects in each field using the Smart City Development Index framework, starting in 2015.

This award consisted of evaluation by IDC researchers (50%), public voting (25%), and evaluation by the IDC International Advisory Committee (25%). 15 out of 330 projects were finally selected as the best projects.

Daegu City's 'Smart Work System', which was selected as the best project in the pandemic management sector for the first time this year, is a system developed independently by Daegu City's Natural Disaster and Smart Disaster Management Team without budget investment for efficient quarantine management in response to the unprecedented spread of COVID-1919.

When a worker in an infection-vulnerable facility enters the quarantine status, whether the gene amplification (PCR) test, and the vaccination status, etc. are mobile did.

It was recognized for its excellence in actively contributing to the prevention and spread of COVID-1919 through public-private cooperation by utilizing digital technology to program the manpower and time required to collect information in a pandemic situation, thereby increasing work efficiency through real-time automatic processing and analysis.

Daegu City is actively utilizing it not only for infectious disease situation management such as COVID-1919, but also for disaster response work such as heat waves, heavy snow, and flood damage, and plans to expand it to all administrative work.

Meanwhile, with this award, Daegu City was honored to receive the Smart City Asia Pacific Award four times for the first time in Korea following 2018, 2019, and 2021. As a result, this year, for the first time in Korea, by operating a smart city data hub and acquiring the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) smart city standard under the United Nations (UN), the foundation for sustainable growth and overseas certification were simultaneously achieved, and the position as a representative smart city city at home and abroad is further strengthened.

Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, “Daegu, which has won the award for the fourth time this year, is meaningful as it has been officially proven as a leading city in smart cities internationally through this award. We will lead a proactive and proactive prevention and response paradigm shift using big data, etc. to make Daegu a safer and more convenient smart city.”
