Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 2022th that it was selected as a pilot project organization by jointly applying with Jeonnam Province for the 15 cloud computing service utilization model conversion project hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

In the cloud computing service utilization model pilot project, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety invested 700 billion won in budget to revitalize the domestic private cloud industry to develop information systems at the regional level (including the competent city/gun/gu and local public enterprises). It is a project that supports conversion by using private cloud.

In July, when the main project cost of 7 billion won applied by the city and about 107 billion won applied by Jeonnam Province go through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety task deliberation committee and are finalized, the contract will be signed and the project will be completed by December.

In particular, Gwangju was selected as the only metropolitan city among the pilot project organizations, and it is the first in the country to apply for the conversion of the electronic payment system of 5 cities and counties, including 22 autonomous districts and Jeollanam-do, to cloud-on-nara.

Gwangju City plans to convert all websites and multiple internal business systems for this project, and plan to move and integrate information systems of autonomous districts, public corporations/industrial complexes, and investment institutions to the cloud in the future.

In-beom Lee, the city's informatization manager, said, "Gwangju City expects to provide flexible and efficient administrative services and help green information technology (IT) operations through participation in this pilot project. I will use it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Gwangju City is promoting the Informatization Strategic Plan (ISP) for the administrative information system cloud conversion project to enhance the stability and professionalism of public services and to implement smart administration that responds quickly to rapid changes.
