– Citizen safety support using intelligent image analysis in Doram Village 7 complex –

A system to support citizen safety through intelligent image analysis will be implemented in Sejong Special Self-Governing City.

On the 2022th, the 'elevator crime prevention service through intelligent image analysis' was finally selected in the '26 Science and Technology Utilization Resident Sympathy for Local Problem Solving Project' contest jointly hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Science and ICT. said.

The contest was a contest to solve citizens' complaints and needs by using science and technology in every part of residents' lives, and 10 local governments, including the city, were honored with the selection.

In response, the city signed an agreement with MOPAS and the Ministry of Science and Technology in the presence of local governments and research institutes, etc.

Elevator crime prevention service through intelligent image analysis is a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) technology, such as object identification, behavior (pattern) analysis, and voice recognition, developed with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI).

By using real-time video information from closed circuit television (CCTV), it is possible to detect risk factors such as assault and fire in advance through multi-faceted analysis.

Prior to this, the city formed a 'self-solving group' centered on the residents of Doram Village Complex 7 and participated in the living laboratory (living lab) 12 times to find an efficient system construction plan such as risk cases and CCTV installation locations.

In this process, based on the opinions of residents, it was decided to expand the application of the system not only to elevators, but also to places exposed to safety accidents such as communal entrances and underground parking lots.

First, we plan to build a system centered on apartment complexes with many socially disadvantaged such as the elderly, women, and the disabled.

The city has secured a total of 3 million won in government funds, including 1 million won for R&D expenses and 5,000 million won for diffusion projects, through the final selection of this public offering.

Seongwook Yeom, head of the Smart City Division, said, “This project is meaningful in that it seeks solutions using science and technology together with citizens. I hope we can achieve worthy results.”
