ㅇ 【Date/Venue】 '22.6.28 (Tue) 15:00-16:30 / Research Institute of Chemistry (Daejeon)

ㅇ 【Participation】 (Government) Head of Industrial Policy Office, (Research institutes) Chemical Research Institute, Materials Research Institute, Ceramic Research Institute, Dietech, ETRI

(Company) (Metal) SeAH Special Steel, Acro Labs (Chemical) Sepra, Unitech, (Ceramic) STX Energy Solution, Amotech (Textile) Koreshtech, Space Dyeing, (Manufacturing Service) Virtual Lab, Insilico, etc.

(Supporting institution) Industrial Technology Promotion Agency, Korea Industrial Intelligence Association, OSP Strategic Planning Team

ㅇ Participating companies and institutions signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation, and agreed to cooperate in creating and accumulating industrial material data and developing and disseminating artificial intelligence, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of our materials industry.
□ Since last year, MOTIE has been promoting the accumulation of high-quality data for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in industrial materials and the spread of artificial intelligence (AI) to the private sector, centering on four core material research institutes and universities in the fields of chemistry, metals, ceramics, and textiles.

ㅇ Industrial material artificial intelligence (AI) is a next-generation development method that can reduce development costs and enable rapid industrial material design* by significantly reducing trial and error based on the learned core data for each stage of material development (raw material → composition → process → physical properties). ,

* The National Institute of Technology (NIST) analyzed  announced that material development digitization had effects such as a 35% reduction in the average development period (10.2 years → 6.6 years), a 71% improvement in R&D efficiency, and an economic effect of 1,230 billion dollars ('18.5).

ㅇ So far, the government and four major material research institutes have created 4 million material data** through ➀selection of data items essential for material development (145 items) and ➁ building data generating equipment* (MDF) for AI development  sophistication. ·Accumulation, ➂Industrial materials AI standard model development has been promoted.

* Material data generation equipment (Miniatuer Data Factory): Material data generation equipment under various conditions required for the development  learning of industrial materials artificial intelligence, 4 fields of chemistry  metal  ceramics  textiles, 8 establishments (2 per field)
** About 150 million cases of accumulated data from the Material Information Bank + Generation of 8 MDFs  Accumulated data of approximately 100 million cases

ㅇ With the launch of the council today, it was decided to disclose (8) industrial material AI standard models developed so far and cooperate with each other for commercialization. was decided to spread.

< Status of digital data accumulation for industrial materials >

ㅇ 【Data Type】 A total of 18 items including raw material information (14 items), composition/mixture (41 items), process (78 items), and physical properties (145 items)
ㅇ 【Data size】 Current) 250 million cases → '27 target) 750 million cases
ㅇ 【Data generation】 Exclusive equipment for material data generation (miniature data factory, 22.6 units built in June 8)
ㅇ 【Organizations】 Chemical Research Institute (Chemistry), Materials Research Institute (Metal), Ceramic Research Institute (Ceramic), Dytech (Textile), ETRI (Platform)

□ Also, on this day, MOTIE announced that it plans to establish a 'industrial material digitalization strategy' jointly this year with industry, academia, research institutes, and the government, and announced the direction of the promotion.
ㅇ The strategy includes spreading data accumulation and utilization centering on the industrial material data platform* and laying the foundation for market revitalization for data distribution and utilization in the manufacturing service industry, etc.

* Accumulate more than 100 million cases per year jointly by the government (public and private sector) and materials companies to use (opened in 23 years)

ㅇ The development of artificial intelligence (AI) models for the development of 8 materials by adding four AI projects this year (one for each of the four fields), including the eight AI projects that have been in progress since last year, will be reviewed. .

< 12 materials digital development AI project >

ㅇ (Metal) High elasticity aluminum for fuel cell (new), catalyst for green hydrogen production, alloy material for gas turbine parts
ㅇ (Chemical) Future Mobility adhesive material (new), catalyst for olefin production, lightweight composite material for Future Mobility
ㅇ (Fiber) Biomass-based fiber material (new), biodegradable fiber material, high light resistance eco-friendly interior material
ㅇ (Ceramic) Ceramic fiber composite material (new), high-reliability capacity for future vehicles, next-generation fuel cell electrode material

□ Joo Young-joon, head of the Industrial Policy Office, emphasized, “In order to strengthen competitiveness as a manufacturing powerhouse, the key is to build an infrastructure that enables companies to receive data  AI services.”

ㅇ “This project is a genome project in the industrial materials field, and it is mentioned as a survival strategy for the materials industry in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, and I expect the council to play a leading role.”
