– Ministry of Science and Technology’s AI learning data construction project selected in 6 fields and 11 tasks… Secured 162 billion won in national budget –
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province applied for the '2022 artificial intelligence learning data construction project', and as a result, 6 fields and 11 tasks were finally selected and received government funding of 162 billion won.
This project is being promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Intelligent Information Society Promotion Agency for the purpose of innovation and job creation in all industries through the establishment and opening of data for artificial intelligence learning.
Through this project, Jeju Island will build base data for the realization of artificial intelligence in various fields such as primary industries (agriculture, fisheries), tourism, and safety.
The project promotion method is achieved through public-private cooperation (province-private coalition (consortium)), and the data built through this is an artificial intelligence (AI) hub operated by the Korea Intelligence Information Society Agency (https://aihub.or. kr/) so that anyone can use it.
The tasks selected this time are ▲intelligent smart seed culture data ▲flounder disease data ▲citrus fruit quantity learning data ▲firefighting 3D object data ▲domestic travel log data ▲iris image data construction.

With this project, Jeju Island expects economic effects through large-scale job creation along with the establishment of a foundation for the use of artificial intelligence in local industries.
In particular, it is expected that more than 30 new jobs will be created as 40-1% of the project cost for each project is allocated to public participation production (crowd sourcing) and 10 people must be hired for every 500 million won of public participation production cost.
