Promote the creation of a base that combines jobs, housing, culture, and transportation centered on railway stations

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (Minister Won Hee-ryong) held a contest for the '2022 Jiangsu Cities Convergence Cluster Creation Project' to develop small and medium-sized local cities with potential into strong cities that can become regional growth bases (7.4~ 10.31) was announced to be implemented.

This contest is aimed at creating an economic and living base that drives regional growth by planning and developing the wide-area transportation function and surrounding urban functions from the initial stage, centering on railway stations where floating populations are concentrated. will be selected and designated as an investment leading district.

The investment leading district is a system that discovers and supports potential strategic projects to foster regional growth bases and activate private investment in accordance with the 「Regional Development and Support Act」, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Since 15, 18 places including Sunchang (fermentation industry), Jindo (marine tourism), and Cheongju (cosmetics) have been selected as investment leading districts. Various benefits are provided, including financial support.

The subject of this contest is a regional development project that creates a convergence cluster that combines transportation, jobs, housing, culture, and commerce in connection with regionally specialized resources and strategic industries in railway stations and their surrounding areas. Based on this, it is to promote job creation and population inflow by creating favorable conditions for private investment in the provinces by comprehensively linking development projects in neighboring regions and various government support projects.

Considering the period needed to conceive of a dense project, the contest will be held until October 31st, and the evaluation committee composed of experts will comprehensively evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the project and select two finalists around November.

Regarding the selected projects, related public institutions such as Korea Land and Housing Corporation and the National Railroad Corporation actively participate from the initial project planning stage, and later promote projects together with local governments and private businesses to add public expertise to fresh ideas from the private sector. This will lead to the success of regional development.
