Incheon Metropolitan City announced that Mayor Yoo Jung-bok, who is on an overseas business trip, participated in the '15th Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC*)' discussion held in Barcelona, ​​Spain on November 11 (local time).

Hosted by the city of Barcelona in Spain and organized by Fira Barcelona, ​​SCEWC, held every November since 2011, is the world's largest smart city international event and a competition for smart cities around the world. As major figures from countries, cities, and research institutes around the world and smart city companies from large corporations to startups participate, it is a place where you can get a glimpse of the present and future of the next-generation mobility field.

This year's event will be held for three days from November 15th to 17th, and more than 400 large and small discussions will be held with over 110 city leaders and international celebrities from around the world.

Mayor Yu Jeong-bok participated in the governance section discussion at this year's event after receiving an official invitation from SCEWC, the organizer of the event. In a forum with the moderator and five internationally prominent figures invited from Europe and North and South America, Mayor Yoo shared opinions on the role of the government and cities to share the future society under the theme of 'Sharing the future society through cooperative governance'. .

In particular, Mayor Yoo introduced specific cases of communication with citizens and social groups in the decision-making process of Incheon City, and emphasized the role and responsibility of local governments and the global community to strengthen city safety using smart technology.

Meanwhile, Mayor Yoo attended the opening ceremony held prior to the debate and listened to the role of digital technology in advancing toward a sustainable, inclusive and eco-friendly city of the future. After the opening ceremony, I stopped by the expo exhibition hall and looked around the exhibition hall with the guidance of officials from sister cities of Tel Aviv, Israel and Yokohama, Japan, as well as global companies. Then, they met with officials from the German Trade and Investment Agency and the Catalunya Trade and Investment Agency of Spain and were introduced to the smart technologies of various companies.
