Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 9th that Gyeongju City's <Singyeongju Station Area Haeoreum Platform City Creation Project> was finally selected for the 2022 MOLIT Base Development Investment Leading District Competition Project.

Through this project, it is planned to create a convergence self-sufficient city centered on metropolitan transportation with a total project cost of 5407 billion won.

This contest project is being promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport to support the efficient growth strategy of national land space, which is a government task.

This is a project that selects pilot projects for railroad stations in small and medium-sized local cities that have potential and supports them in fostering them as small but strong cities.

The provincial government thoroughly prepared from the preliminary stage of the contest project by operating a self-evaluation committee composed of external experts in preparation for various project discovery and written/on-site/comprehensive evaluation.

In addition, through cooperation with local politicians such as National Assembly member Kim Seok-gi and Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nak-yeong, the necessity and feasibility of the project were continuously suggested, resulting in the selection of this contest.

This contest project is a regional development strategy that comprehensively considers comprehensive development and maintenance plans for railway stations and surrounding areas, support measures for local governments, and plans to connect with other projects. It is planned to be promoted as a public-private joint development with Japan (KR) participating as a joint operator.

Gyeongju City's <Singyeongju Station Area Haeoreum Platform City Development Project> is to build the Haeoreum Platform Center (combined transfer center), the center of regional transportation in the Gyeongsang region, in the area around the Singyeongju High-Speed ​​Railroad (KTX) Station, expand the proton accelerator in the vicinity, and build a small module reactor (SMR) country. The main goal is to establish a linkage cluster in accordance with the industrial complex formation.

In addition, a business function and knowledge industry center is planned for business start-up support, a cooperative win-win platform is created through a business agreement (MOU) with KHNP, and public housing, living infrastructure, and leisure, cultural and commercial facilities are expanded to improve the residential environment. Proceed.
