Seongnam City announced on the 37106th that it had received the 'Smart City International Certification (ISO 12)' from the British Standards Institute (BSI).
Smart city international certification is a global standard established in 2018 by the International Organization for Standardization for sustainable city construction.
An international standard certificate is issued only when 22 items are evaluated, including intelligent city construction vision and capabilities, and citizen-oriented services, and at least level 5 (maturity) is obtained in the 3 stages of smart city promotion.
Seongnam City received high scores in the leadership and driving force of managers for the promotion of the 4th industry special city, the industry-academia-research collaboration system, the operation of smart city education programs for citizens, and the establishment of infrastructure.
These include upgrading the intelligent transportation system for citizens, AI-based CCTV control, smart care for the elderly living alone, smart garbage collection system, artificial intelligence civil service, and expansion of public Wi-Fi.
An official from Seongnam City said, “We are solving urban problems with cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and drones, and providing various city services to citizens.” It gave me strength to push forward,” he said.
Previously, Seongnam City was recently selected for large-scale public projects, such as the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'Smart Village Supply and Expansion Project' and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport's 'AIoT (Things Intelligence Convergence Technology) Core Technology Development Project'.
