Self-driving lidar software startup Seoul Robotics is building a smart intersection in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. The smart intersection is expected to provide various conveniences to drivers and pedestrians by identifying real-time traffic flow and weather information.

Seoul Robotics announced on the 5th that it has decided to install 475 smart intersections in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with support of 60 million dollars (about 86 billion won) from the US Federal Highway Administration.

This smart intersection installation is the largest in the United States and will cover approximately 130 Chattanooga intersections. Urban Informatics researchers from Tennessee State University's Chattanooga campus also participate in the installation, providing mapping, tracking, and identification-related information for efficient movement.

In particular, this smart intersection is equipped with Seoul Robotics' 3D recognition software, SENSR. Consisting of lidar sensors, SENSR can filter out weather conditions and anonymously detect, track and predict the movement of pedestrians and vehicles regardless of rain, fog and other conditions.

Seoul Robotics recently introduced the next-generation SENSR 2023 at the CES 3.0 event held in Las Vegas. The next-generation SENSR 3.0 supports the QuickTune function that expedites calibration work. The new version is being distributed in Florida and South Korea in cooperation with US semiconductor company Nvidia.
