A new concept of transportation that allows you to board at the time and place you want and move to the desired destination, 'Dok Bus', will start operating throughout Godeok New Town in Pyeongtaek.

Gyeonggi-do and the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation announced on the 26th that they will conduct a pilot operation of the Godeok New Town Ttok Bus from the 5th and start official operation with a total of 9 vehicles from May 15th. The vehicle is an 20-seater Hyundai Solati vehicle, and operates within Godeok New Town from 11 am to midnight every day.

'Smart Bus' is the unique brand of Gyeonggi-do's Demand Responsive Transit (DRT), which means 'smart moving bus'.

Tokbus is a customized means of public transportation that transports passengers flexibly in response to passengers' calls without fixed routes and fixed schedules in new cities or transportation-vulnerable areas. Unlike existing buses with fixed routes, it is characterized by using artificial intelligence (AI) to create and operate optimal routes in real time according to passenger demand.

You can call and pay for Kdock Bus with the 'Dkta' app, an integrated transportation platform operated by Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation. When a passenger enters the starting point and destination he/she wants to go to, the route or the route based on the nearest Dk Bus vehicle is available. Boarding points and boarding and alighting times are calculated and provided in real time.

Passengers can board the Kdock Bus according to the boarding point and expected boarding time. When passengers with similar routes make reservations at the same time, a detour route is automatically created and operated in a way that allows passengers to ride together. The fare is 1 won, and a discount for integrated transfers in the metropolitan area is also applied when using a transportation card.

Earlier, from December 2021, the Dok Bus pilot project was implemented in Unjeong and Gyoha districts in Paju, and as of March this year, about 3 passengers were transported. Based on these achievements, the province plans to expand and introduce 30 buses in 9 cities and counties by the first half of this year.

Following Pyeongtaek, Goyang (Siksa·Gobong, 7 generations), Hwaseong (Dongtan, 15 generations, Hyangnam, 5 generations), Suwon (Gwanggyo, 10 generations), Hanam (Wirye·Gamil, 6 generations), Yangju (Okjeong, 10 generations) Dae) plans to introduce the Dkbus sequentially. Namyangju is promoting a pilot project of 14 rural-type Dkbuses by adding a 'wired call' function that allows elderly people to easily use them by phone, focusing on rural areas such as Onam, Jinjeop, Sudong, and Byeolnae.

Inchi-kwon, Director of Metropolitan Transportation Policy Division of Gyeonggi-do, said, “It is expected that residents will be able to use public transportation easily and freely anytime, anywhere through the operation of Dkbus in Godeok New Town in Pyeongtaek.” We plan to continue expanding.”

Min Gyeong-seon, CEO of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, said, “I am delighted to be able to contribute to the improvement of the transportation infrastructure of Pyeongtaek Godeok New Town and the improvement of citizens’ mobility services through the operation of the Dk Bus. We will make transportation available,” he said.
