Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok) announced on the 18th that it held a meeting with LG Electronics Co., Ltd. and five shared personal mobile device (PM) companies to improve safety management of personal mobile device (PM).
As personal mobile devices are used as a means of short-distance transportation due to their convenient accessibility and mobility, the number of users is rapidly increasing. However, as the related regulations are not clear, the incidence of safety accidents due to unauthorized neglect and non-compliance with traffic laws is also increasing, emerging as a social problem. In response, Incheon City held this meeting to prepare measures to improve the safety management of personal mobile devices in cooperation with related organizations.
In particular, at the meeting, the focus was on ways to improve the unauthorized neglect of personal mobile devices.
Incheon City and related companies recruit electric kickboard supporters, such as volunteer groups and students, to rearrange devices left on the sidewalk to create a pleasant walking environment, and to operate a parking penalty zone that prevents return of devices in no-parking areas to prevent unauthorized devices from being left unattended. decided to prevent
In addition, the 'eco-friendly smart personal mobile device station' pilot project, which Incheon City is reviewing in collaboration with LG Electronics Co., Ltd., is a non-budget project to create 100 wireless charging stations in the city. We plan to induce the spread of a proper parking culture among citizens.
They also discussed ways to improve effective systems, such as regulations on wearing hard hats.
Despite the imposition of fines for non-wearing of hard hats under the current Road Traffic Act, the rate of wearing hard hats is very low. In fact, a shared personal mobility device company in Incheon City deployed hard hats, but within a month, more than 90% of them were damaged or lost, and there were cases where the hard hats were recovered.
At this meeting, it was determined that imposing a fine for not wearing a helmet would not be a realistic safety management plan. plan to propose.
Based on the agenda discussed at the meeting, the city of Incheon plans to review in detail ways to improve the safety management of personal mobility devices and establish a comprehensive safety management plan through a second meeting with shared personal mobility device companies in August.
Kim Joon-seong, director of transportation, said, “As the use of personal mobility devices is increasing, social interest is being focused. Starting from this meeting, we will prepare a plan for mutual cooperation between the public and the private sector, and at the same time, we will put the safety of Incheon citizens first. We will work hard to realize traffic safety policies,” he said.
