Demonstration of smart city challenge business digital administrative service... Sharing the current status and collecting opinions from stakeholders

(Daily Daegu Gyeongbuk News=Reporter Yang Seung-mi) = On the 18th, the city of Pohang, the main service of the 'Pohang City Smart City Challenge Project', targeted 50 people, including city officials, POSCO Holdings and business participating companies, Pohang Private Taxi Branch, and citizen participation groups, Administrative service demonstrations were held.

The demonstration proceeded in the order of participant introduction, business status report, service demonstration, and introduction of the profit-sharing taxi roof advertising platform vehicle (All IoT taxi*). It is designed to provide reliable service.

In March of last year, Pohang City received 3 billion won from the government through the 'Smart City Challenge Main Project', a public contest hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, and has been promoting the project since August of last year.

In this project, which solves urban problems through collaboration between companies with excellent technology and local governments, the city builds 4 services in the four areas of smart city safety, smart transportation, digital administrative innovation, and data hub to achieve digitalization throughout the city. We are promoting projects with the goal of realizing a future smart city.

First of all, 'Digital Administrative Innovation' applies big data and AI (artificial intelligence) technology to real-time city data collected from vehicle-mounted LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging)*, cameras, and 20 types of sensors. Information (potholes, road surface conditions, manholes), illegal activities (illegal parking and stopping, illegal banners), abnormal conditions of facilities (traffic lights, streetlights), real-time floating population status, harmful gas information, etc. are displayed on the map to provide data to each working department. is a service that provides

*Technology that measures the distance to an object by emitting a laser beam and receiving a signal reflected from the target object

Each working department plans to use digital administrative services to improve the existing work system and increase the efficiency of on-site response work.

In the field of 'smart safety', about 4,500 CCTVs, which were previously controlled by human eyes, will be converted to artificial intelligence-based automatic control. Through a stored video search, AI secures a golden time for solving violent cases such as disappearances and kidnappings by real-time searching for the appearance of a person presumed to be a suspect and the type and color of a vehicle.

In the field of 'smart transportation', a Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) system is introduced to supplement the shadow areas of public transportation in the region, and a Pohang-style taxi calling platform is established to improve the profitability and working conditions of local taxi drivers. .

The establishment of the 'Data Hub' promotes the fostering of the data industry centered on the 'Pohang Venture Valley'* by converging and opening various city data, public data, and private data collected through this project.

* A region that supports start-up infrastructure (Change Upground, Bio Open Innovation Center, etc.), investment programs, start-up technology, etc.

To complete the service, the city plans to engage citizens and experts in the project, prepare a plan for coexistence with stakeholders, derive a service model with high satisfaction, and expand the service centered on local governments in the province.

Kim Nam-il, Deputy Mayor of Pohang City, said, “We plan to do our best to successfully carry out the Smart City Challenge main project.” We will take off as a regionally leading smart industrial model city by creating a cooperation-based industrial cluster.”
