Gimhae City, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 7th that it was selected as an excellent local government in the 'Smart City Index' evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. Accordingly, I was invited to participate in the smart city index results discussion forum and participated as a panelist.

The Smart City Index is a survey conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport since July of this year to collectively determine the level of smartization in cities across the country. It includes 7 items actively utilizing national statistics and public data and 23 items submitted by local governments. An evaluation was conducted, and as a result, Gimhae City was selected as one of the top 24 excellent local governments.

Among the selected excellent local governments, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport invited Gimhae City, Seongdong-gu in Seoul, and Dalseo-gu in Daegu as panelists for the 'Smart City Index Results Discussion'. In Gimhae City, Kim Tae-moon, head of the Planning and Coordination Office, attended and shared Gimhae City's smart city implementation cases. and shared opinions with the panelists.

Kim Tae-moon, head of the Planning and Coordination Office, said, “It seems that our city has established a smart city foundation well over the years according to the 1st smart city plan and has received good results,” adding, “The 2nd smart city plan currently being established also faithfully reflects citizens’ opinions to improve the lives of citizens.” “We will do our best to improve the quality of the project and revitalize the local economy,” he said.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport plans to promote future legislation and policymaking based on the results of the 'Smart City Index' conducted this year.
