President Yoon Seok-yeol held a summit meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Joko Widodo) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the morning of the 8th (local time) and decided to further strengthen economic cooperation, which is the basis for the development of the two countries.

President Yoon is on an official visit to Indonesia to attend the ASEAN-related summit and mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Indonesia.

The two leaders congratulated the remarkable progress made in various fields, including politics, economy, society, and culture, over the half-century since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and discussed future-oriented practical cooperation plans for the next 50 years.

The two leaders agreed on the need for economic cooperation between the two countries and highly praised the fact that Korea and Indonesia are cooperating in areas such as electric vehicles, batteries, and smart cities to create future growth engines together.

Accordingly, we decided to actively utilize the Korea-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into effect early this year, to expand trade and investment in various fields.

The two leaders agreed to actively support corporate activities and to work together to resolve corporate difficulties while strengthening the institutional foundation that supports the mutual market entry of companies from both countries.

In this regard, the President requested President Joko Widodo's support, pointing out that Korean companies entering Indonesia are experiencing difficulties such as import volume restrictions, certification systems, and trademark infringement. President Joko Widodo said he would look into it with special interest.

In addition, the two leaders welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on industrial cooperation covering the automobile, steel, petrochemical, and digital economy sectors, intellectual property protection, ▲electric vehicle ecosystem, and halal food sector as an opportunity for this meeting.

The President's Office explained that the signing of this MOU in the halal food sector will lay the foundation for expanding K-food exports to Indonesia, the world's largest halal market.

The two leaders also agreed to cooperate closely so that many Korean companies can continue to participate in the Indonesian capital relocation project.

In addition, we decided to expand cooperation in responding to climate change and explore cooperation in the nuclear power plant sector for sustainable and resilient future growth.

The two leaders agreed to further promote exchanges between the peoples of the two countries to expand the base of Korea-Indonesia relations.

The President announced that he would expand exchange projects, including inviting scholarship students, to support exchanges with the next generation, and announced plans to establish a Korean Education Center in Indonesia.

In addition, the two leaders agreed to further strengthen cooperation in national defense and the defense industry to deepen the 'special strategic partnership' between the two countries.

In particular, they agreed that the two countries should work closely together to successfully complete the next-generation fighter joint development project.

Korea and Indonesia are pursuing joint development of fighter jets (KF-2015/IF-X) by investing approximately 2026 trillion won from 8 to 1000.

President Yoon expressed hope that Indonesia, a leading country in ASEAN and a key partner in the 'Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative', will work together to contribute to freedom, peace, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

President Joko Widodo welcomed the 'Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative' and responded by calling for strengthening the mutually beneficial, substantive, and strategic partnership between the two sides.

The President welcomed and supported Indonesia's push to join the OECD, and said that Korea, as a strong partner of Indonesia, would actively support the achievement of the '2045 Golden Indonesia Vision'.

Indonesia is pursuing a 'new capital relocation project' by investing 2045 trillion won by 40, and the two countries signed a 'capital relocation cooperation MOU' during President Joko Widodo's visit to Korea in July last year.

The President's Office predicted that specific cooperation projects such as carbon neutral water purification plants, immersed tunnels, and policy consultations in the new capital will be further accelerated through this summit.

Lastly, the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation at the bilateral and ASEAN levels to achieve the complete denuclearization of North Korea.
