Jeju Island held final report on hydrogen tram pre-feasibility review on the afternoon of the 14th

With the introduction of hydrogen trams, the hydrogen industry will be revitalized, a 15-minute city will be realized, and Jeju tourism will take a leap forward again.

■ Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is pushing ahead with the introduction of Jeju hydrogen trams in earnest, starting with the establishment of an urban railway network construction plan, which is a legal plan under the Urban Railway Act.

* Satisfies the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport's urban rail network construction plan establishment requirements: 2 routes, B/C 0.7 or higher

 

■ The final report on the pre-feasibility review service for the introduction of the Jeju hydrogen tram was held at Halla Hall on the 14th floor of the Jeju Provincial Office main building at 2 p.m. on the 4th.

 

❍ The final reviewed priority route is a total of 11.74km section connecting Nohyeong ~ Yeonbuk-ro ~ Provincial Office ~ Airport ~ Yongdam-dong ~ Jeju Port, and the total project cost is KRW 4,391 billion.

 

❍ We plan to proceed with the project by securing 60 billion won in national funds, equivalent to 2,634% of the total project cost, through a preliminary feasibility study in accordance with the national treasury support standards for urban railways.

 

❍ In addition, although excluded from the priority promotion, the Dongseo Gwang-ro and Yeonsam-ro routes are also proposed as a long-term plan in the urban rail network construction plan and are planned to be reviewed taking into account demand conditions after the construction of the 1+2 route.

 

■ Jeju Island plans to implement procedures such as confirmation and announcement by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, application for projects subject to preliminary feasibility study, basic plan for each route, and approval of business plan in the process of establishing the Jeju urban rail network construction plan.

 

■ Kang Seok-chan, Director of Jeju Island’s Transportation and Aviation Bureau, said, “We believe that Jeju hydrogen trams are absolutely necessary in various aspects, such as relieving urban traffic congestion, revitalizing the hydrogen industry, realizing a 15-minute city, and taking a leap forward in Jeju tourism,” and added, “Public transportation through the introduction of hydrogen trams. “We expect that the creation of a central city and urban regeneration will become the driving force of new Jeju development,” he said.

 

❍ He added, “We will begin the process of introducing hydrogen trams without a hitch, starting with establishing a plan to build an urban rail network in Jeju next year.”

 

■ Meanwhile, considering the level of preliminary feasibility study to be conducted in the future, Jeju Island has been conducting a multifaceted review by holding a policy forum and an advisory meeting with experts in the railway and transportation fields for the introduction of Jeju hydrogen trams, and in the process of establishing a plan to build a Jeju urban railway network for next year. They announced that they will pursue policy review in consideration of ecological and environmental values ​​(vitalization of the hydrogen industry), balanced regional development, and tourism effects.
