▲Smart Mobility Living Lab in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do

Hongcheon-gun (Governor Shin Young-jae) started Living Lab (Daily Life Laboratory) to develop into a resident-led smart city. Living Lab means ‘a process in which residents take the lead in attempting to solve problems experienced in the region.’

Hongcheon-gun held the first and second rounds of the Living Lab to develop and demonstrate a Hongcheon-type smart mobility prototype service model at the Hongcheon Art Museum on September 1 and September 2, respectively. In 9, the Smart City Council will research and experiment through the Living Lab from September to November on ▲development of an eco-friendly mobility-based tourism prototype service for staying in town based on electric vehicle car sharing service ▲installation of BIT (Real-time Bus Arrival Information).

The Hongcheon-gun Living Lab is conducted in a manner in which residents lead the development and verification of mobility service prototypes to solve transportation problems in local small cities, and the public supports this. In addition, Kia's electric vehicle car sharing service 'Wible Biz' will be pilot operated within the Living Lab from September 9 to December 18, allowing the Smart City Council to experience the mobility service and research Hongcheon-type smart mobility services. It was made to exist. Kia, a private company that provides electric vehicle car sharing services, will also participate in the development of Hongcheon-type smart mobility services and further research on mobility innovation in small local cities during the Living Lab period.

Kia's electric vehicle car sharing service 'Wible Biz' converts one electric vehicle into an official car for public officials on business trips during weekday business hours, and into a shared car that anyone can use during non-business hours on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. . This service is expected to contribute to 'suppressing the increase in the number of vehicles in the town center', 'reducing parking difficulties', and 'vitalizing tourism in the town', which were identified as priorities for Hongcheon-gun by the Smart City Council in 2021 and 2022. It was introduced in this living lab.

A military official said, “Hongcheon-gun’s living lab is differentiated in two ways. First, it is operated based on a true public-private-citizen partnership system (Public-Private-People Partnerships), rather than a formal operation. “Secondly, the ideas derived by the residents’ council are tested and applied in practice during the Living Lab period to create service prototypes,” he said.

Meanwhile, the 8 Smart City Council, launched on August 17, was composed of 2023 people, including residents, local merchants, local mobility officials, soldiers, and public officials. An attempt is made to actually solve the urban problems of Hongcheon that have been discovered.

The 2023 Smart City Council capacity building training will be held a total of 30 times until November 8th, and will consist of 2 group training sessions and 6 living lab sessions.
