□ Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province announced that the exemplary case of “Gangwon Healing Tourism (Wellness)” was selected as <2023 Green Destination Top 2023 Stories> at the “100 Green Destination Conference” held in Tallinn, Estonia, Europe for the first time among local governments in the country.
Green Destination is an official certification body of the Global Sustainable Tourism Commission (GSTC), sponsored by the United Nations (UN), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
□ <Green Destination TOP 100 Stories> is a contest award ceremony for sustainable tourism hosted by Green Destination and sponsored by international tourism organizations such as ITB Berlin, Quality Coast, Travel Life, and Asia Eco-Tourism Network, held in 2014. It has been implemented every year for tourism organizations such as local governments, cities, and tourism offices around the world.
□ 2023 Green Destination Top 100 Stories' is divided into 6 categories <①Private-private cooperation (governance)/recovery, ②Natural landscape preservation, ③Climate change response, ④Preservation of cultural traditions, ⑤Community coexistence, ⑥Business/Marketing> An evaluation team consisting of approximately 50 international experts reviewed and selected cases based on the innovation, transparency, and excellence of the cases according to the core evaluation criteria for green destination sustainable tourism.
□ Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province received high praise for its success story of becoming a global tourist destination in response to new tourism demand after COVID-19 through the healing tourism (wellness) tourism cooperation complex (cluster) jointly operated by the public and private sectors of the “Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism-Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province-Cities and Counties-Facility Owners” in the “Governance and Recovery” sector with the theme of “Sustainable Gangwon Healing Tourism (Wellness) Tourism” in the midst of the international tourism disruption crisis caused by the COVID-19 phenomenon. At the request of the “2023 Green Destination Conference” Organizing Committee, overseas tourism practitioners from our province participated as panelists to promote various tourism content such as healing tourism (wellness), culture, and the Korean Wave, and won the Green Destination Top 100 Story Award.

It contains information on revitalizing local tourism by attracting tourists through various promotions such as social network, service, media marketing, etc.
