– Gangjin-gun and Yeongam-gun were selected for the MOLIT contest and secured 10 billion won in government funds –

 

 

Jeollanam-do announced that Gangjin-gun and Yeongam-gun were selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport’s ‘2024 Life-friendly Urban Regeneration Smart Technology Support Project’ contest and secured 10 billion won in government funds.

 

The smart technology support project establishes smart services linked to the detailed functions of urban regeneration projects that have already been selected and are being implemented, improving local problems in areas closely related to residents' lives such as transportation, safety/firefighting, tourism, health, and welfare, and increasing the effectiveness of regeneration projects. This project has been promoted every year since 2020. This year, 10 locations across the country were selected.

 

Jeonnam Province went through consulting to discover projects suited to local conditions and submitted two sites, Gangjin and Yeongam, to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, achieving the feat of having both sites selected. A total of 2 million won in government funds and approximately 5 million won in military expenses will be invested.

 

The selected project is ▲Gangjin-gun Byeongyeong-myeon ‘Reply! ‘Smart Hanolmokgil’ ▲This is a smart technology support project linked to the urban regeneration project of ‘Yeongam being reborn as S.M.A.R.T’ in Yeongam-eup, Yeongam-gun.

 

Gangjin-gun seeks to revitalize the tourism industry through smart solutions in the tourism field, such as a smart tourism platform and metaverse-based smart guidance in Byeongyeong-myeon.

 

Yeongam-gun promotes traffic safety by introducing smart technologies, such as installing smart parking facilities and media electronic displays, as a solution to illegal parking and frequent traffic accidents in Yeongam-eup.

 

Both are aimed at improving the living environment by establishing highly effective smart services in a short period of time.

 

Yoo Ho-gyu, head of the Construction and Transportation Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “We will continue to discover various smart service fields linked to urban regeneration projects and strive to have many selected in the contest.” He added, “The selection of this urban regeneration smart technology support project is expected to solve local problems and improve regeneration effects.” “He said.
