Daegu Metropolitan City succeeded in obtaining the ISO 37120 series, an international standard certification for smart cities, for two consecutive years and held the certification ceremony at the CES Daegu Enterprise Joint Pavilion in the United States.

The ISO 2 series, which Daegu Metropolitan City succeeded in obtaining certification for two consecutive years, is one of the smart city international standard indicators created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)* to promote standardization of smart city-related technologies and services between cities.
* Launched in 1947, it is a non-profit organization that establishes and disseminates standards used internationally as a union of standard-setting organizations from a total of 164 countries.

The organization that supervises the international certification of smart cities on behalf of the International Organization for Standardization is WCCD (World Council on City Data), an organization launched at the Global Cities Summit in 2014 that evaluates and evaluates the standardization and utilization of city data. Verification is conducted and standard certification is granted.

The ISO 37120 series, which Daegu Metropolitan City succeeded in obtaining certification, is a major international standard certification in the smart city field and verifies 19 indicators in 104 areas to determine whether the city contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens by providing sustainable smart city services. Intensive verification.

Daegu Metropolitan City was recognized for the verification of 88 indicators through the verification process and obtained the Gold Label*, the second highest grade among the five certification levels, for two consecutive years. In addition, it also succeeded in recertifying at the early adopter level in the sub-certification indicators ISO 5 (related to international standardization) and ISO 2 (related to urban resilience).
* Certification level: ASPIRATIONAL → BRONZE → SILVER → GOLD → PLATINUM

The three major cities that have obtained all three certifications above are Toronto in Canada, Ajman in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Daegu Metropolitan City, which will be the first city in Korea as well as Asia.

ISO 37120 series certified cities can participate in and participate in WCCD-related international events, including the WCCD City Summit, as WCCD members.

In addition, Daegu Metropolitan City, which is intensively fostering the ABB industry, is looking forward to future global digital cooperation in that global cooperation related to smart cities is possible through comparative measurements of cities' economy, society, and welfare based on standard-certified open data between cities. It is expected that it will serve as many opportunities.

Meanwhile, on this day, an MOU for on-device AI technology exchange was signed between MJ Vision Tech, a local company, and Hailo, an Israeli AI semiconductor company.

MJ Vision Tech is a regional smart security company that became the first Daegu company to win the ‘Security and Solutions’ category at the 2023 World Smart City Expo (WSCE 2023) hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport last year.

Through this MOU, MJ Vision Tech said it plans to develop AI software for each application field using Halo's AI semiconductors and provide technical support and spread technology using AI semiconductors for companies in the Daegu area.

Choi Woon-baek, head of the Future Innovation and Growth Office, who attended the certification ceremony on behalf of Daegu Metropolitan City, said, “The renewal of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport smart city certification last year and the acquisition of the ISO 37120 series for the second consecutive year means that Daegu City’s smart city-related technologies and services are the first in the country. “Of course, it has proven that it can be used internationally,” he said. “Starting this year, we will do our best to spread Daegu’s excellent smart city technology, led by ABB, both domestically and internationally.”
