The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport uses the latest smart city technology to help local governments respond to regional extinction and the climate crisis. Through this, we support local governments to solve various urban problems and respond to global environmental changes.
According to related industries on the 3rd, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, was selected as a 'climate crisis response type' in the '2024 Smart City Creation Project' recently announced by MOLIT. Gwangmyeong City will receive 3 billion won in government funding over three years and apply climate crisis-specific solutions through cutting-edge technology throughout the city.
Gwangmyeong City plans to introduce a ‘Gwangmyeong-type carbon-neutral smart city’ by investing up to 80 billion won in government funds and city funds. The goal of the so-called 'Gwangmyeong-type carbon neutral smart city' is to build a circulation infrastructure using cutting-edge smart technology and systematically operate carbon neutrality, including carbon neutral city data.
Gwangmyeong City is particularly committed to △establishing an energy efficiency circulation system through renewable energy production and sharing transactions △electric vehicle-based community car sharing to establish an eco-friendly delivery culture value chain △realizing a carbon-neutral platform city based on citizen activity data △based on AIoT (artificial intelligence convergence technology) It is expected that urban safety will be greatly enhanced through the establishment of an integrated flood control system.
In addition, the Innovation Center built through this project will utilize city data to foster smart citizens and discover services that can solve urban problems. In addition, we will develop the nation's first life cycle-based carbon neutral city certification system and train private sector professionals to connect them with jobs.
If this blueprint is realized, Gwangmyeong City is expected to accelerate its efforts to achieve the goal of '2050% reduction in greenhouse gases by 2030' announced last year when declaring the city a 40 carbon neutral city.
Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won said, “Gwangmyeong City has been continuously exploring the carbon neutral agenda with citizens since establishing the Climate and Energy Department for the first time in the country in 2018. We will be reborn as a carbon-neutral smart city with growing civic awareness and an expanded carbon neutral base.” .
