South Chungcheong Province is implementing the ‘Chungnam-type Carbon Neutral Point System’ to spread the culture of practicing carbon neutral living in daily life.

At the '31th Chungcheongnam-do Local Government Conference' held in the Provincial Office conference room on the 6st, Governor Kim Tae-heum established 'Carbon Upshu', a Chungnam-style carbon neutral point system mobile application to encourage carbon neutrality practices with the provincial mayors and county governors and NH Nonghyup Bank's Chungnam Headquarters Head. An agreement was signed.

Through this agreement, each organization decided to raise public interest in climate change and greenhouse gas reduction and strive to spread a culture of voluntary carbon-neutral living in order to realize a sustainable carbon-neutral society.

Specifically, provinces, cities, and counties provide the necessary financial and administrative support and actively promote the carbon business program so that residents and small business owners can participate in it.

NH Nonghyup Bank's Chungnam Headquarters takes the lead in expanding the base for low-carbon, green living practices by providing preferential financial services to residents participating in the carbon business program.

Carbon Upshu is a method of accumulating points as a reward when residents participate in carbon reduction activities in their daily lives.

The carbon neutrality practice items are planned to be selected as items that anyone in the province can easily participate in, such as △ issuing electronic receipts △ using public transportation △ organizing e-mail (mailbox) △ participating in environmental education events △ growing plants at home.

Points can be accumulated up to 1 won per person per year, and are paid in local currency to promote local economy.

In addition, NH Nonghyup Bank offers up to 0.1% reduction in loan interest rates and up to 70% discount on currency exchange fees to residents who sign up for and practice carbon business.

To participate, search for 'carbon zero' in the Play Store or App Store, download the app, sign up as a member, and post the details of your carbon neutrality activities.

The province plans to conduct a pilot operation in all cities and counties in the province by December and begin full-scale operation next year by reflecting supplementary matters.

In addition, at the local government meeting on this day, the 'Chungcheongnam-do RISE (Regional Innovation Centered University Support System) Basic Plan (Plan)' was also discussed.

Starting next year, the province will integrate the five financial support projects that the Ministry of Education directly supported to universities into the RISE project and transfer them to each province or province. As a result, the Chungcheongnam-do RISE basic plan containing Chungnam-type university support projects will be established by the end of this year to support regional and provincial universities. We plan to create a shared growth ecosystem and strengthen competitiveness.

In the basic plan, the province aims to foster competitive universities that drive regional innovative growth. △ Establish a foundation for nurturing industry-linked talent △ Establish a market-oriented cooperation ecosystem between local, industrial, academic, and research institutes △ Strengthen work-learning-life linkage △ Promote growth and sharing It contains 4 projects and 15 unit tasks, including the value-based leap forward of Strong Chungnam.

In addition, in the second half of the year, we plan to sign a business agreement with the city and county for the success of the Chungnam RISE project and solidify the cooperative relationship between local governments and universities to lay the foundation for customized university support for each region led by local governments before the project is fully implemented.

In addition, at the meeting that day, Governor Kim shared major issues and looked at suggestions from each city and county, including seeking active cooperation in the province-wide 100 million signature campaign to establish the National Dental Research Institute in Cheonan through conversations with mayors and county governors.

At this meeting, Governor Kim first said, “As extreme heavy rain has continued, we must not let down our guard and respond thoroughly,” adding, “The city and county will mobilize all their capabilities for emergency recovery so that residents can return to their daily lives as soon as possible.” “He asked.”

Governor Kim went on to say, “We plan to implement a carbon neutral point system to spread the culture of voluntary carbon neutral practice in daily life,” adding, “Chungcheongnam-do’s carbon neutral policy was recently introduced in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) ‘2024 Korean Economic Report.’ I am being recognized. “We hope you will cooperate to make the point system a success.”

Lastly, Governor Kim emphasized, “Since the Chungnam-type RISE basic plan will include many regional coexistence tasks, we will actively discover cooperation projects with universities,” and expressed unanimity in making all-out efforts to secure next year’s government budget of 11 trillion won. requested to act.
