Incheon Metropolitan City has developed and unveiled its own brand for hydrogen energy. This is part of Incheon’s efforts to secure a leading position in the hydrogen industry.

 

In fact, Incheon City is leading the hydrogen industry compared to other local governments by possessing the world's largest liquefied hydrogen production facility and distributing the largest number of hydrogen buses in the country, as energy policies for carbon neutrality are actively being implemented around the world.

 

The newly developed brand design visually expresses the eco-friendliness and safety of hydrogen energy. The design uses a gradation of green, which symbolizes eco-friendliness, and blue, which represents cleanliness, and is inspired by the hydrogen element symbol H2. The left 'I' symbolizes Incheon's current generation, and the right 'I' symbolizes future generations, containing the meaning that the current generation promises future generations a clean and sustainable Earth through hydrogen energy.

 

Incheon City plans to utilize this brand design in various fields. First, it plans to apply it as a logo on city buses to make it more familiar to citizens. Incheon City signed an agreement with the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, and related companies last year, and has promoted a hydrogen bus conversion project, supplying about 300 hydrogen buses to date. Through this, it is focusing on creating a clean city without concerns about greenhouse gases and fine dust.

 

In addition, this design will be applied to promotional materials related to the hydrogen industry and emblems for hydrogen plant businesses. Through this, it is expected to effectively convey a unified image of Incheon City’s safe and environmentally friendly hydrogen energy policy.

 

An Incheon city official said, “We expect that through the hydrogen energy brand we have developed this time, we will be able to effectively publicize the identity of Incheon’s hydrogen industry and expand its status as a global hydrogen city,” adding, “We will continue to work toward growth into a hydrogen economy and society.”
