Korea Hydrogen Union, Gyeongnam, Chungbuk, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam Hydrogen Specialized Companies (Preliminary) Signing MOU

The Korea Hydrogen Association (Chairman Jaehong Kim) held the “4st Hydrogen Specialized Company Development Forum” on October 30 (Wednesday) at Sebitseom Island in cooperation with four local governments: Chungcheongbuk-do, Jeollabuk-do, Jeollanam-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do.
This forum, held as a preliminary event to commemorate the 'Hydrogen Day' event designated as the first statutory commemorative day of the year, was organized with the purpose of sharing the current status of hydrogen companies in Korea and seeking ways for the government, local governments, academia, and companies to grow hydrogen specialized companies into global small and medium-sized enterprises.
The number of hydrogen specialized companies has increased from 21 in 30 to 103 this year, and from 22, a preliminary hydrogen specialized company system has been implemented to foster hydrogen companies together with regions, and currently 86 preliminary hydrogen specialized companies have been discovered and are supporting technology commercialization (approximately KRW 60 billion, 298 projects). In addition, last year, 9 preliminary hydrogen specialized companies, including Aspe Co., Ltd., achieved sales growth and were converted to hydrogen specialized companies.
On this day, the Korea Hydrogen Association also signed a “Hydrogen Specialized Company Fostering Cooperation Business Agreement (MOU)” with four local governments (Chungcheongbuk-do, Jeollabuk-do, Jeollanam-do, and Gyeongsangnam-do) that operate preliminary hydrogen specialized companies and regional specialized organizations (Chungcheongbuk-do TP, Jeollabuk-do TP, Green Energy Research Institute, and Gyeongsangnam-do TP) to strengthen support for regional cooperative industrial ecosystems.
Through this agreement, it is expected that the importance of the hydrogen specialized company system for creating a hydrogen industry ecosystem will be further strengthened, as well as the exchange and fostering policies between the Korea Hydrogen Union, local governments, and specialized companies.
After that, presentations were given in the following order: ▲Export cases of hydrogen venture companies by CEO Lee Jung-hee of prospective hydrogen specialized company Ahes Co., Ltd., ▲Expansion cases of hydrogen business by Senior Vice President Bae Min-gwan of hydrogen specialized company Daeha Co., Ltd., ▲Hydrogen company fostering strategies and success stories of prospective hydrogen specialized companies by Chungbuk Techno Park and Gyeongnam Techno Park, which have been supporting prospective hydrogen specialized companies since 22, allowing a glimpse into the achievements made so far and cooperation and support efforts at each region.
Lastly, the Korea Hydrogen Association announced the status of support for hydrogen specialized companies and the status of improvement in hydrogen industry regulations, and on this topic, MOTIE Hydrogen Industry Manager Park Han-seo, Korea Energy Technology University Professor Han Jong-hee, Jeonbuk Province Hydrogen Team Manager Seo Yeong-min, SK E&S Headquarters Manager Kim Min-ho, Surim Tech CEO Lee Deok-jae, and Zipilos Director Koo Jeong-woong discussed the direction and role of hydrogen industry policies.
In his welcoming speech, Chairman Kim Jae-hong said, “As the sales of hydrogen companies increase, the number of hydrogen specialized companies will naturally increase, so the number of hydrogen specialized companies is a representative indicator of the growth of the hydrogen industry in Korea.” He added, “For the continuous development of the domestic hydrogen industry ecosystem, we will faithfully fulfill the role of the Korea Hydrogen Association so that companies can grow in a more stable environment.”
