□ Busan City (Mayor Park Hyung-joon) announced that it will actively promote Busan's smart city vision and smart city project implementation results by participating in the "5 Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC 7)" held in Barcelona, Spain for three days from today (the 3th) to the 2024th.
□ The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) has been held in Barcelona since 2011 as the world's largest and most influential international event for urban innovation. It is very popular as it allows visitors to observe smart city technologies from various cities around the world and global companies at a glance.
□ This year, the exhibition scale is approximately 1.6 times larger than last year, with over 130 companies and cities from 1 countries exhibiting their smart city-related technologies, allowing a glimpse into the present and future of various smart cities under the theme of ‘Live Better.’
○ With over 600 leaders from global companies, governments, and organizations participating, it will be held as a total of 7 thematic academic conferences on ▲execution technology ▲energy and environment ▲mobility ▲governance and economy ▲life and inclusion ▲public infrastructure and architecture ▲marine economy.
□ During the event, the city will operate the Busan Pavilion within the ‘Integrated Korea Pavilion’ established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. Here, the city will introduce ▲Busan’s ‘Smart City Lab Creation Project’ and ▲Busan’s excellent smart city companies (3 companies).
○ 31 companies, including MOLIT, Busan City, Pohang City, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-Water), Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and excellent smart city companies, will participate in the Integrated Korea Pavilion.
○ The 'Smart City Lab Creation Project' to be introduced by the city is a project to create a virtual model (digital twin*) test bed** environment where services can be tested before distribution and commercialization by creating a mock city with an environment similar to an actual city.
○ The Smart City Lab establishment project is expected to increase the completeness of Busan Smart City by providing a foundation for the development of various new technologies and services and the promotion of research and development (R&D), thereby identifying problems likely to occur in reality in advance.
