– Providing identification tags and wandering detectors for elderly people who may wander… Contributing to building a social safety net for elderly people with dementia

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) Ilsandong-gu Health Center announced on the 21st that it received a commendation for its active participation in the Living Lab verification support project at the '2024 Big Data and Smart City Project Performance Sharing Meeting'.

Ilsandong-gu Dementia Care Center will participate in the 'Goyang Smart City Living Lab Demonstration Support Project' promoted by Goyang Industrial Promotion Agency as a 'service to build a social safety net for protecting the elderly wandering around based on an opportunity network.'

The 'Opportunity Network-based Wandering Elderly Social Safety Net Construction Service', which prevents dementia patients from wandering and enables them to be quickly found when they go missing, is a service that allows guardians to monitor the location of wandering elderly patients through an app using wandering detection sensors (beacons) attached to the dementia patient's clothes, shoes, etc. and wandering detection collectors installed at buses and bus stops.

Hong Hyo-myeong, the head of the Ilsandong-gu Health Center, said, “As the number of dementia patients going missing continues to increase, it is necessary to establish a dementia safety net to prevent missing persons,” and added, “We will closely review the results of this demonstration and work to establish services to prevent and manage missing persons in the future.”

Meanwhile, Ilsandong-gu Dementia Care Center is also providing the following services to prevent dementia patients from going missing: △Free distribution of identification tags for elderly people who may wander, △Provision of wandering detection devices, and △Pre-registration of fingerprints with the National Police Agency.
