-Daejeon City-MOLIT-LH “Mobile Future City Support Center” held, collecting opinions from residents –
- Establishing a basic city plan… Target for designation as a pilot district in the first half of 26 years –
On the 19th, Daejeon City, together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), held the 'Mobile Future City Support Center' in the seminar room on the 3rd floor of the city hall to directly listen to residents' opinions and provide customized consulting to ensure smooth progress of the aging planned city development project.
This event was organized to increase residents' understanding of the areas scheduled to be designated as special development zones among the areas targeted for establishment of the Daejeon Aging City Development Basic Plan.
In particular, we provided customized consulting by conducting group counseling for each complex, targeting residents (representatives) of the apartment complex.
About 15 residents from 40 apartment complexes attended the event. The attendees heard the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport’s basic plan for redeveloping aging cities and Daejeon City’s implementation plan, and had time to directly resolve their questions about the redevelopment project on site.
Also on the same day, officials from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport visited the site of the maintenance project and took time to review key issues.
Daejeon City has been closely monitoring government trends on aging city development policies since 2023, conducting preliminary surveys, and began establishing a basic plan in earnest in November of last year.
In order to actively reflect the opinions of residents in the future basic plan establishment stage, we plan to operate a quarterly ‘Mobile Future City Support Center’ in cooperation with MOLIT and LH. Through this, we plan to expand the participation of residents and increase the effectiveness of project promotion.
We plan to complete the basic plan for the aging planned city development by the second half of this year and initiate administrative procedures for MOLIT approval. In addition, we plan to systematically carry out the project by specifying the evaluation criteria for pilot districts, promoting pilot district competitions, etc., and aim to be designated as a pilot district by the first half of next year.
Lee Jeong-gap, head of the Daejeon City Urban Planning Division, said, “The key to the aging planned city redevelopment project is to build consensus among residents and secure infrastructure and self-sufficiency to activate urban functions.” He added, “We will spare no administrative support, such as customized consultations, to increase residents’ understanding of the project and ensure smooth progress of the project.”
