- Asia's Largest Smart City Event '2025 Kaohsiung Smart City Summit' 참가
- A.I(AI) Introduction of the innovation policy of the smart city of Goyang City...Strengthening global smart city cooperation
Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan participated in the '20 Kaohsiung Smart City Summit' held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan on the 2025th, introduced Goyang City's smart city policy, and explored ways to cooperate with global smart cities.
The Smart City Summit is Asia's largest smart city event held annually in Taiwan. It is a place where city officials, major companies, and experts from around the world gather to share the latest smart city technologies and policies. This year, it is held simultaneously in the capital Taipei and Kaohsiung with the theme of 'digital and green transformation.'
In the session titled 'Strengthening Cities with Artificial Intelligence (AI) - Opening a New Era through Artificial Intelligence (AI)' of the Smart City Digital Forum held after the opening ceremony, the mayor shared Goyang City's smart city policies and discussed the innovative changes that artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual model (digital twin) technologies will bring to urban planning, infrastructure management, and the provision of administrative services.
In his session presentation, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “Smart cities are no longer a distant future but a reality, and an essential element for improving the sustainability of cities and quality of life,” and introduced Goyang City’s flagship smart city service.
The market explained, “Goyang City is utilizing digital twin services, which implement real-world spaces into digital spaces, for ground subsidence prediction, river flooding, and urban air mobility (UAM) demonstrations.” It also provided transportation optimization services such as traffic analysis, crowd congestion detection, and commercial district demand prediction based on real-time data. It is also building a drone valley service in which drones are dispatched from the shortest distance installed station in the event of a disaster or catastrophe to respond quickly.
He continued, “We are also promoting the establishment of a self-driving bus service that combines demand response, a smart data platform that can increase work efficiency and citizen satisfaction, and an intelligent smart administrative service,” and emphasized, “We will create a sustainable city by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual models (digital twins) in various fields and continue innovation as a leading global smart city.”
Afterwards, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan personally toured the Smart City Summit exhibition hall to confirm the latest cases in which artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual model (digital twin) technology are combined, and reviewed the possibility of introducing advanced technologies and ways to link them with Goyang City's smart city strategy.
Goyang City plans to integrate innovative technologies and solutions in various smart city fields, such as smart transportation, energy efficiency, and public service optimization, identified at this year's 'Kaohsiung Smart City Summit' into the creation of a smart city using artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual models (digital twins), and further strengthen international cooperation with global smart cities in the future.
Meanwhile, the 'Kaohsiung Smart City Summit' will be held from the 20th to the 22nd at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall. On the 20th, Gareth Davis, Director of the Smart City Innovation Center Asia Innovation Twins, and Karl-Philipp Koengratz, Chairman of the European Smart Cities Network (OASC), gave keynote speeches. In the panel discussion held afterwards, Mayor Lee, Jacek Jaskowiak, Mayor of Poznan, Poland, and Charles Lin, Deputy Mayor of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, participated and shared the value of artificial intelligence (AI) in the future city life.
