– Drone station in operation during the summer high-altitude period… All-out prevention and response effort –
South Chungcheong Province announced on the 15th that it will actively promote safety accident prevention activities utilizing drones and artificial intelligence (AI) analysis technology in the coastal areas of Boryeong during the summer season when beachgoers and beachgoers are concentrated.
This activity is in response to the coastal safety accidents that have occurred continuously in recent years. The province plans to proactively detect accident risk factors through drone station-based automatic flight systems and artificial intelligence image analysis technology, and to respond quickly in collaboration with relevant organizations.
The operation section is 16km long, from Daecheon Beach to Daecheon Police Station and Songhak Port, and major risk factors such as beach crowd density, people leaving the swimming area, and people stranded in the sea are analyzed in real time and observed and managed.
Drone footage is transmitted in real time to relevant organizations, including the Boryeong Marine Police Station situation room and Daecheon Police Station, through the linked integrated control system, and rescue operations are carried out immediately in the event of a dangerous situation.
The drone station is an unmanned system that can take off and land automatically without a pilot. It will perform regular surveillance along a set flight path according to the tidal difference and will also conduct emergency flights when necessary.
The Land Management Division, Boryeong City, and Boryeong Coast Guard plan to jointly establish a system for on-site equipment inspection and video sharing, and to respond by promptly notifying the site when signs of isolation or unusual behavior are identified through drone surveillance.
Lim Taek-bin, head of the Land Management Division, said, “This coastal safety management activity, which combines drones and artificial intelligence technology, is a preemptive measure to protect the lives and safety of residents,” and added, “We will do our best to minimize coastal accidents during the summer.”
