The public and private sectors will jointly discuss 'K-AI City' (Korean artificial intelligence smart city) technology.

According to industry sources on the 15th, the 'K-AI City Policy Meeting' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and organized by the Smart City Association will be held at the Smart City Association headquarters in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul on the 16th.

The meeting will be held for metropolitan and basic local governments. Given the high level of interest and demand for participation in K-AI City, in-depth discussions across various sectors are expected.

Related meetings will also be held on the 19th (for SMEs and startups) and the 23rd (for large and medium-sized enterprises). Focusing on the government's K-AI City policy implementation strategy, the meetings will discuss industrial revitalization and support measures for AI-based urban innovation, as well as cooperation plans with local governments and businesses.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport stated, “K-AI City is one of the core policies of the national agenda, and the 2026 government budget has been prepared for its prompt implementation,” and added, “Local governments and various sectors will work together to successfully promote K-AI City.”

The meeting will present the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport's policy direction and share case studies from local governments and businesses. In particular, open discussions will be held to exchange suggestions and policy ideas from the field and brainstorm ways to improve policy.

Through these consecutive meetings, MOLIT and the Smart City Association expect to: △ strengthen policy implementation that reflects opinions from the field; △ promote revitalization of the corporate ecosystem and win-win cooperation; △ expand customized policy support for local governments; and △ establish a sustainable public-private cooperation platform.

An official from the Smart City Association said, “As the K-AI City core strategy is being promoted in earnest, this will be an important opportunity to hear voices from the field and opinions from the industry,” adding, “We will smoothly implement the strategy in line with the government’s budget allocation.”
