– Real-time demand response bus service called by app

 

○ Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the real-time demand-response bus service called'I-MOD (i-mode) bus' to Yeongjong International City will be operated in earnest from October 26th.

'I-MOD (i-mode) bus' is a new concept of smart mobility service that allows passengers to call a vehicle to a desired bus stop with a smartphone app and move to the desired bus stop regardless of the bus route.

<Demand response bus operation overview>
◦ Operation period: 2020. 10. 26. ~ 2022. 12. 31.
◦ Operation area: Yeongjong International City (based on the bus stop)
◦ Hours of use: 05:30 ~ 23:30 (18 hours) * Callable until 23:00
◦Usage fee: Basic fee 1,800 won (up to 7km based on the shortest distance) * Teenagers 1,200 won / Children 700 won
Additional charge KRW 100 (every 7 km beyond 1 km) * Additional charge applies from February 2020

○ Incheon City was selected as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport 2019 Smart City Challenge preliminary project to solve the uncomfortable public transportation problem in Yeongjong International City, along with the Hyundai Motor Consortium, a demand-response bus I-MOD, shared electric kickboard. I-ZET service has been demonstrated.
○ From December 2019 to January 2020, 1% of Yeongjong citizens used the service during the two-month demonstration period, and service users' waiting time for public transportation was reduced by 2 minutes and travel time by 12 minutes. In addition, as a result of the survey, 5% of users were satisfied with the service, confirming citizens' high interest and expectations for the new smart mobility system.
