□The Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced that it has won the silver award in the field of new technology at the '17th World Smart City Organization Awards (WeGO Awards) Awards' held online on the 4th.

○ The World Smart City Organization is an international organization established in 2010 led by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to promote sustainable development and bridge the information gap through exchanges between cities.

○The awards are held every three years, hosted by the World Smart City Organization, and are evaluating excellent smart city-related policies that have been promoted by member cities around the world to improve the quality of life for citizens.

□At this awards ceremony, ▲Efficient Government ▲Emerging Technology ▲Mobility ▲Open and Inclusive City Category ▲Safe City ▲Sustainable City Two cities were selected as winners in each field.

○ This year, a total of 52 applications were received, and a total of 6 cities were selected after the first and second written review by a panel of judges composed of 1 experts in the field of ICT.

○ Jeju-do received the honor of receiving a silver award in the field of new technology by introducing the content of'Super Precision Bus Location Information Service'.

□'Ultra-precision bus location information service' is a service that allows you to check the real-time location of the bus on a mobile app by using new technologies such as the satellite navigation system (GNSS).

○ The'super-precision bus location information service' was highly evaluated for contributing to the convenience and welfare of citizens in public transportation.

○ It has great significance in that Jeju's excellent policies are promoted to cities and companies around the world as the'Super Precision Bus Location Information Service' was awarded at this awards ceremony.

○'Ultra-precision bus location information service' has already been awarded in numerous domestic awards in recognition of its originality and excellence.

□ Yoon Hyung-seok, head of the Future Strategy Bureau of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, said, "We will develop a real-time fire control system with the Jeju Fire Headquarters based on the ultra-precise bus location information service, and provide a life-oriented service system that residents can experience."

○He added, “Through the Smart City Challenge project, we will connect the gas station-based smart hub and the e-Samda platform, and we will begin to demonstrate in earnest from the end of November to complete the construction of a Jeju-type smart city.”
