□ This is a follow-up measure according to the 'Korean Urban Air Transportation (K-UAM) Roadmap' jointly announced by related ministries in June, and through UAM Team Korea (hereinafter referred to as “Team Korea”), mid- to long-term development directions to be promoted in the future were discussed in depth.

□ The main contents discussed on this day are as follows.

【① Status of Establishment of Joint Ministry* Joint K-UAM Technology Roadmap】
* MOLIT, MOTIE, Ministry of Science and Technology, MSS, etc.

ㅇ A technology roadmap that focuses on UAM technology development tasks and prepares national R&D development target tasks and investment strategies is being prepared jointly by relevant ministries.

-UAM is an innovative air transportation service, which is a market where cutting-edge technologies in various fields such as manufacturing, infrastructure, and information and communication technology (ICT) are concentrated.

-Faced with the fact that the overall aviation sector was relatively inadequate in technology competitiveness, it is judged that UAM should be developed as a new opportunity and food for the future through full investment in combination with competitiveness in the automobile sector.

ㅇ In this technology roadmap, gradual changes in the UAM market and'UAM operation scenarios' reflecting them are established, and investment targets and strategies that require intensive investment are prepared.

ㅇ As a result of analyzing the operational scenario by dividing the market in stages by five years, such as'Early ('25~'30)-Growth ('30-'35)-Maturity ('35 -), the supply price through technological innovation This can be drastically reduced, so it is likely to be popularized.

-Initially, two routes are commercialized mainly for some users (similar to helicopter service), but once the market opens, autonomous flight (manual → remote → autonomous), battery (high capacity, high efficiency), compact and efficient traffic management (number of vehicles operated) Freight rates can be significantly lowered by using ↑).

ㅇ UAM composition technologies include: ① aircraft development and production (manufacturer), ② transport and operation (transport operator), ③ airspace design and control (national), ④ operation management and support (transport management operator), and ⑤ social basis (community) It is divided into five areas, including *,

* Similar to the US NASA classification system (① aircraft development and production, ② gas management and operation, ③ airspace design and allocation, ④ route design and traffic management, ⑤ community integration)

-Based on the core values of'safety, acceptability, economics, and sustainability', we plan to concrete detailed technologies that should be invested in the future.

ㅇ In the future, after extensively collecting expert opinions on automobiles, ICT, energy, and future transportation, we will accurately determine the current address of our technology, determine the size and subject of R&D investment, and finalize the final roadmap in March 21.3.

【② K-UAM Grand Challenge Promotion】

ㅇ The first stage test bed of the K-UAM Grand Challenge, a public-private joint demonstration project for commercialization of urban air traffic in '25 was selected.
* (Purpose) Safety verification before commercialization, securing empirical data to prepare operational and safety standards, support for testing and verification for industries entering new industries, etc.

-Overseas, led by the United States (NASA-led), the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Canada, and China are all planning and carrying out demonstration projects.
* AAM (Advanced Air Mobility) National Campaign: A mid- to long-term project that bundles and demonstrates various issues such as urban air traffic, drone courier, cargo unmanned aerial vehicles, and electric powered passenger aircraft.

ㅇ The K-UAM Grand Challenge is being promoted in stages in accordance with the schedule for commercialization in '25*.
* Stage 0 (Scenario preparation and test bed construction, ∼'21) → Stage 1 (open area demonstration, '22∼'23) → Stage 2 (city center killing, '24)

– 21 billion won* has been organized as a budget for building a test bed in 78.5, and an empirical scenario** that clarifies test items and methods is being prepared.
* (Civil engineering and construction) hangars, taxiways, take-off and landing grounds, etc. / (facilities and equipment) meteorological and noise measurement, monitoring center, charging facilities, communication facilities, monitoring equipment, etc. ** Research conducted by Aerospace Research Institute ('20.9∼'21.9 )

ㅇ The National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center (located in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do) was finally selected as a result of various reviews, evaluation by external committees, and resolution by Team Korea to select the first stage test bed (1st stage, '1~'22).
* (Selection criteria) Airspace, site ownership, meteorological environment, test facility construction, accessibility, etc.

-Considering the environmental conditions of the National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center, the concept of the test bed and the performance of specific purchased equipment are designed, and construction is planned to begin next year.

ㅇ In the second half of next year when the current K-UAM Grand Challenge demonstration scenario is confirmed, the “K-UAM Grand Challenge Master Plan” will also be announced.

-In particular, we are actively promoting international cooperation (such as NASA in the US) to exchange various information with other major countries and expand the base.

□ Son Myung-soo, 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, said, "The K-UAM roadmap is being implemented smoothly thanks to the efforts of the participating organizations of UAM Team Korea, which was launched last June."

ㅇ “Next year, we will finally announce the joint UAM technology roadmap and the comprehensive plan for the K-UAM Grand Challenge, and through this, the government will spare no effort so that UAM can be realized as soon as possible and Korean companies can become competitive in the global market.” Emphasized.
