– Relieve inconveniences such as pedestrians and users based on agreements for linking smart demonstration projects –

Sejong Special Self-Governing City will join hands with related organizations and companies to promote the use of personal mobility devices (PMs) called'electric kickboards' and set out safety measures.

Electric kickboards are rapidly increasing in use as a personal means of transportation due to the corona 19 effect, while problems such as reckless parking and stopping, accidents due to inexperienced driving, boarding for two, and driving under the influence of alcohol are also causing problems.

In particular, the current electric kickboard related laws have not been enacted, and as the competition is overheated due to the pursuit of business feasibility of shared electric kickboard companies, it is urgent to prepare citizen safety devices for electric kickboards.

Accordingly, on the 12th, the city signed a'Smart Demonstration Project Linkage Agreement' with Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Road Traffic Authority, and Mass Asia Co., Ltd. to seek ways to promote safety and activation of electric scooters specialized in Sejong City.

Based on the smart demonstration project (big data), the city is planning to secure correct awareness when using electric kickboards and prepare safety measures for activating electric kickboards to promote use.

First, in order to solve the problem of parking and stopping on the sidewalk with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, guidelines such as parking zones and towing ranges are set, while opinions from both users and pedestrians are collected to find a practical parking method.

The Korea Road Traffic Authority plans to spread the culture of safe use by producing safety education contents containing the revised Road Traffic Act.

Mass Asia Co., Ltd., which operates alpaca, which is a demonstrator, will be in charge of reviewing the feasibility and feasibility of various measures prepared by safety agencies.

Lastly, the city presents its own unique guidelines based on the activation and safety measures for the use of electric kickboards derived from related organizations and companies, and plans to enact related ordinances around September.

“We will create an environment where citizens can use the electric scooter more conveniently and safely by actively realizing the proven measures established through the signing of the agreement,” said Lim Jae-soo, head of the public transportation department. I will try to make it.”
