– Providing local problem solving services such as safe walking and smart clean road (automatic sprinkler) that are highly sensible and easy to commercialize –

□ The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport selected 15 target areas for the'Life-oriented Urban Regeneration Smart Technology Support Project' to solve local problems by applying smart technologies that are highly sensible and easy to commercialize in urban renewal New Deal project areas. The final selection was announced.

ㅇ This project has been newly promoted since last year and is supported by up to 5 million won per project site.
* Local governments pay 40-60% of the project cost depending on the matching ratio of the urban regeneration project.

□ A total of 3 applications were submitted from March 17th (Wednesday) to 19th (Friday) for the 'Life-friendly Urban Regeneration Smart Technology Support Project', focusing on gathering residents' opinions, necessity and feasibility, feasibility and effectiveness,

ㅇ A total of 15 project sites with specific business plans and rapid implementation were selected.
* Seoul (Seodaemun-gu), Daegu (Dalseo-gu, Dong-gu), Incheon (Dong-gu, Jung-gu), Gyeonggi (Gwangmyeong), Chungnam (Seosan, Cheonan), Jeonbuk (Gimje, Jeonju, Jeongeup), Gyeongbuk (Gyeongju, Seongju), Gyeongnam ( Goseong), Jeju (Seogwipo)

□ Through this support project, it is expected to be able to solve local issues by utilizing smart services focusing on four areas closely related to residents' lives, such as safety and firefighting, life and welfare, energy and environment, and transportation.

≪ Major cases by smart service field ≫

① Safety·Fire Protection: Smart Prediction·Alarm (Cheonan City, Chungnam)

The original downtown area on the west side of Cheonancheon, which many residents use as a trail, is a habitually flooded area with a lower area than the surrounding area and poor drainage. The smart prediction/alarm service automatically blocks the entrance to the river when the water level rises above an appropriate level through the Cheonancheon river level gauge to ensure the safety of residents who use the Cheonancheon stream. In addition, using the collected water level data, it is planned to transmit disaster prediction and warning broadcasts in advance prediction before a disaster occurs, and to send text messages to residents living in low-lying areas to enable rapid evacuation.

② Life·Welfare: Monitoring the elderly living alone (Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam)

Goseong-gun introduces a monitoring service for the elderly living alone to resolve the welfare blind spot in Muhak Village, where the distribution of the elderly population is high. Motion detection LED lights and motion detection sensors are installed on elderly households living alone, and when abnormal signs such as no movement for a set time or longer are detected, it is possible to contact guardians and related organizations and respond to dispatch. In addition, it is expected to improve the convenience of the elderly who lack sight and hearing by changing the color of LED lighting according to the situation in the household such as external intrusion, and sending voice text messages of various living information.

③ Energy·Environment: Smart Clean Road (Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk)

In Seongju-gun, the number of heatwave days and peak temperatures are constantly rising every year, but the market road in front of Seongju Traditional Market is difficult to operate due to narrow one-way streets and illegal parking. Smart Clean Road alleviates the heat island phenomenon by installing a station that measures temperature and humidity, and automatically operates the road sprinkler according to environmental changes. Compared to the sprinkler, the sprinkling cycle is shortened, and it is expected to be able to be used in a variety of cases, such as when road cleaning such as fine dust is necessary, as it can be operated at all times per year.

④ Transportation: Smart safe walking (Seodaemun-gu, Seoul)

Natural·Chunghyeon-dong The neighborhood of Gyeonggi-daero is a major commuting route for schools, and it is located on the back side of a large road. In order to solve this problem, we intend to build a smart safe walking service by introducing intelligent CCTV and speed violation warning devices to existing transportation facilities. It automatically recognizes speeding vehicles and pedestrian access information in blind spots and displays them on an electric sign to induce the driver to drive safely. In addition to securing safety for pedestrians through voice guidance devices and intensive lighting at crosswalks, crime prevention effects are expected by combining security devices such as emergency bells.

□ Government funds will be provided to the 15 finalized project sites from May, and the project will begin in earnest.

ㅇ The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport plans to make thorough management of the project by regularly checking the status of the project so that the project can be promoted with a sense of speed.

□ Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Urban Regeneration Division Manager Sang-min Park said, "By incorporating smart solutions into the current urban regeneration new deal projects, we will be able to create greater synergy in solving problems in the region."

ㅇ “After the selection, we plan to actively support the project so that the project can be promoted smoothly by communicating closely with local governments.”
