Hongcheon-gun is accelerating to create a Hongcheon-type smart city model that reflects regional characteristics.

Previously, on September 9, the military launched the 'Smart City Council' based on public-private cooperation, and has conducted six training programs to strengthen the capacity of the smart city council in which they participate.

The best experts in the field of smart cities participated in the education and gave lectures on the concept and application of smart city, introduction of the latest smart city technology, smart technology and future society, data-based smart tourism and smart mobility, and understanding and examples of smart farms.

The Smart City Council, which consists of about 40 civil servants, residents, research institutes, and private companies in related fields, also added enthusiasm to education with a high participation rate and an active questioning offensive.

In particular, residents posed in-depth questions such as the definition and use of the metaverse, and the impact on local jobs that the rapid change to a smart city hastened due to COVID-19 will bring.

The education program includes three living labs, conducted by the Smart City Council with the help of practical support staff.

The Living Lab proceeds step-by-step by identifying problems (1st Living Lab), deriving solutions (2nd Living Lab), and confirming candidate tasks that can lead to a central government open call project (3rd Living Lab).

Hongcheon County Mayor Heo Pil-hong said, “The Hongcheon-type smart city, created by members with diverse backgrounds and interests, has successfully taken the first step through the smart city council’s competency strengthening training course. We are already looking forward to improving the quality of life and strengthening the competitiveness of the city.”
