– Finding ways to minimize inconvenience to citizens after the project is closed (2022.12) –

The city of Incheon worked with experts and people in charge of the transportation department to find a sustainable operation plan for the future transportation bus, I-MOD (demand-response bus).

Incheon Metropolitan City announced that it had held an 'I-MOD Promotion Status Report' at 27 am on the 10th of October, presided over by Mayor Park Nam-chun.

The report was attended by officials from the City Hall Transportation Bureau, Noh Chang-gyun, a senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Construction Technology, Sohn Young-tae, a professor at Myongji University, and 9 consortium performers including Hyundai Motor Company.

I-MOD was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Smart City Challenge and is part of the I-Multimodal project for social participation promoted by Incheon City.

Incheon City is operating 2020 I-MOD buses from Yeongjong International City in October 7 to Songdo International City and Namdong Industrial Complex in July this year to demonstrate new smart mobility technologies.

The I-MOD bus is a demand-response service that creates and operates an optimal route based on the real-time movement demand of customers, and can be used by installing the app.

So far, the number of application members and service users has reached 2 and 3,000, respectively, and the average daily number of users is about 12. In particular, in the case of Yeongjong International City, it is receiving an explosive response from citizens to the extent that it cannot keep up with the demand.

Mayor Park Nam-chun said, “I-MOD is already playing a role as a complement to public transportation in areas with poor traffic, but the project will be completed in December 2022. We will find an operational solution that can minimize inconvenience.”
