□ The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced the 'Regional Base Smart City Creation Project' announced on the 8th of November, followed by the 'Smart City Creation of Small and Medium Cities' that creates and builds smart solutions for small and medium-sized cities. Project', announced that it will invest 2025 billion won (including 2,560 billion won from the government) by 1,280.

ㅇ The 'Small and Medium City Smart City Creation Project' aims to increase the sensibility of residents by spreading excellent smart city solutions throughout the country and strengthening the business capabilities of local governments.

ㅇ In the meantime, through the Smart Challenge project*, 64 smart city services have been demonstrated in 240 cities across the country.

□ Starting with this project, we will move away from the government-led distribution business, and promote the project with a resident participation model in which service users participate from planning to solution construction and operation stages.
ㅇ In order to improve city services, if residents find urban problems and set a plan and performance goals for corresponding solutions, they can receive appropriate consulting support from the government and support agencies in the process of implementation.

□ Next year, 640 basic local governments (including special autonomous cities and provinces) will be selected for a total of KRW 16 billion* to promote the project, and the government and local governments will jointly invest KRW 40 billion in each selected city.

□ The main schedule of the smart city development project for small and medium cities in '22 is as follows.
ㅇ (Announcement of public offering) Detailed public offering plans can be found on the website of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (www.molit.go.kr) or the website of the smart city comprehensive portal (www.smartcity.go.kr).
ㅇ (Submission of public offering) Local governments wishing to participate in the project must submit a project plan to the Smart City Development Office of Korea Land and Housing Corporation from December 27 to December 29.
ㅇ (Selection announcement) The evaluation committee composed of external experts for each smart city field plans to select 22 small and medium-sized cities in early February 2 through written and presentation evaluation.
ㅇ (Start of the project) After the selection, detailed implementation plans for each local government are established, and the project is started and the solution construction project is carried out for one year.

② Citizen-led living lab type demonstration project (temporarily, scheduled to be announced in January 22.1): Selected for local governments that operate or plan to operate living labs (select 5 locations, support up to KRW 10 billion per location)
