Andong-si is being reborn as a more convenient and safe smart city. Smart technology is being introduced in various fields, from public transportation to tourism, livestock and livestock, logistics and distribution, safety and disaster, ICT industry, water supply, and river management.
The city is one step closer to creating a safe city by building an integrated smart city platform. About 3,200 CCTVs managed by the Video Information Integration Center are shared in real time with relevant organizations such as the police and fire stations to support prompt response to emergency situations that threaten the safety of citizens.
In connection with this, a total of 2021 billion won will be invested from 36 to this year to develop and demonstrate an intelligent disaster and safety management system based on image analysis under the supervision of the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute. It plans to build advanced safety services such as an intelligent pedestrian tracking system (finding elderly people with dementia, etc.) and forest fire location tracking (precise detection of flames and smoke) by analyzing CCTV images.
In addition, last January, it was finally selected for the 「1 Small and Medium Cities Smart City Creation Project」, a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport contest project, and a total project cost of KRW 2022 billion was invested to create smart crosswalks, smart stops, and provide parking information. In addition, it plans to apply the eco-clean house solution to create a clean and pleasant urban environment.
The Smart City Integrated Operation Center is being operated in the provincial new town, which is receiving great response from citizens. There are six projects in progress: public transportation information provision, real-time traffic control, public area safety monitoring, smart bicycle, water supply facility management, and joint district management. In the future, 6 additional services will be operated, including illegal parking monitoring, public support portal, garbage dumping monitoring, ecological environment monitoring, smart school zone monitoring, smart health park, and media complex pole.
Public transport has become more convenient. We started building the bus information system in 2019, and so far, we have installed integrated terminals in 84 bus information information systems (BITs) (85 units) and 138 buses, and built a website and mobile service. Anyone can conveniently know the bus arrival time in real time through a smartphone or a bus stop information device. In addition, free public Wi-Fi was opened at all city buses (138) and bus stops (53) to improve Internet access and convenience for citizens and tourists.
In the tourism field, we create a tourism system that allows you to enjoy tourism conveniently with just one smartphone. By building a smart integrated tour guide system that implements Andong's tourism information as a mobile app platform, it is expected to provide various services such as customized course recommendations, location-based tourism electronic map guidance, stamp tour experience, and foreign language translation.
ICT technology commercialization targeting local companies is also promoted. In cooperation with the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the city is developing ICT convergence technology that has a large ripple effect on SMEs by spending 3 billion won over three years. Through this, we plan to support local SMEs to upgrade ICT technology and commercialize their products with a project cost of 21 billion won for five years from this year.
Smart techniques are also being applied to agriculture. A total of KRW 62 billion has been invested in the Odae-ri orchard (2020ha) in Imja-myeon for three years from 3 to this year. It is laying the groundwork for converting all fields of agriculture, from open field cultivation of apples to distribution, to smart farming based on data.
To this end, with the Andong Smart Farm Project Group as the control tower, build a production complex (irrigation/administration expenses, growth/pest monitoring, unmanned control, future orchard, etc.) ), etc., are being promoted.
In addition, in the livestock sector, from 2020 to this year, 5 million won has been invested to support ICT convergence expansion projects in the livestock sector by supporting ICT equipment such as communication, sensors, and CCTV. In the water supply sector, 73 billion won will be invested to establish a real-time water quantity and water quality management system with a smart pipe network management system. 66 national river sluices in the region can be integrated and managed by establishing a smart flood management system.
An official from Andong City said, “We will do our best to create convenient and safe living conditions by introducing smart technology from the areas of life that citizens are most uncomfortable with to the areas of dangerous disasters. We will make a preemptive effort for the transformation of the smart agriculture and livestock industry.”
