Gyeongsangnam-do announced that 2022 locations including Changwon, Tongyeong, Gimhae, Miryang, and Haman were finally selected for the '5 Smart City Competition Project' implemented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, and secured a total project cost of KRW 340 billion.

The 'Smart City Project' is a project to solve regional urban problems by discovering and distributing smart city solutions suitable for regional characteristics through the participation of the private sector, local governments, and universities.

Gyeongsangnam-do was selected for the 'Regional Base Smart City Creation' selected by Changwon City in January and the 'Small and Medium City Smart City Creation Project' selected by Tongyeong and Haman-gun in February, followed by the 'Smart City Innovation Technology Discovery Project' in Gimhae and Miryang on April 1. Five locations in the province were selected for the MOLIT Smart City Competition in 2, and 4 billion won in government funding was secured, resulting in the largest selection in the country.

On April 4, Gimhae City and Miryang City were finally selected for the citizen-led Living Lab-type 'Smart City Innovative Technology Discovery Project', and plan to promote a solution demonstration project for local citizens to proactively discover and solve urban problems with a project cost of 6 billion won each.

In Gimhae City, using image-based object recognition and tracking technology in three school zones (Mosan-cho, Sammun-cho, and Daecheong-cho) in front of the elementary school in Gimhae City, the school zone, such as the establishment of a parking and parking management solution in the child protection zone, and the establishment of a solution for detecting and guiding pedestrians entering the road We plan to solve traffic accidents and traffic congestion problems by establishing a safe school system for children.

Miryang-si has established and demonstrated AI-based child safety commuting route service in four apartment buildings (Haeoreum Apartment, Hanmaeum Apartment, Lotte Investga Apartment, Yuhan Riverside Apartment) to prevent traffic accidents and raise awareness of traffic safety and provide smart services to citizens. It is expected that the quality of life will be improved by improving the sensibility.
